8 days out from panniculectomy have ?'s 7 day pic inc.
So it is day 8 from panniculectomy and I have questions that I am sure some of you can answer from experience. Yesterday I quit taking my pain pills during the day and take them at night only. Did take a couple of tylenol during the day however. Still having about 75 ml total drainage from the two drains and have appt tomorrow to see if one or both can come out. I am hoping at least the one on the left can come out as it is in the pubic area and very painful. The other one that is more in hip area doesn't hurt much. The most pain I have is my girly part, it is very swollen and firm and as purple as an eggplant. When will this improve? I am wearing my compression garment except when showering. Dr. had told me I could probably resume sex after a couple of weeks but I can't imagine at this point. When did sex resume for you guys? I will post a pic taken by hubby after shower last night even though its not pretty and would love any advice/comments.
Thanks
Veronica

I had LBL/Brachio four weeks ago today. We resumed sex at about the two week mark. I wore my binder cinched tight and we went really slow. No problems at all and haven't had any since !

You mons looks really swollen! I would call the plastic surgeon and ask him to look at the pics or have you come in.
Just because the drain is draining SOMETHING doesn't mean it can't be stopped up.
As to sex: my G*d woman, that is the LAST thing on my mind! But if you're up for it, ask your doc when you go in to have your mons looked at.

I'd say call your doctor. I was swollen in the mons area...but no where near that. Everyone swells differently, so it might be OK, but I'd have them check it out just in case. My doctor had me lay out of my garment an hour a day...but otherwise I was in it religiously. I'm 3 months out and STILL wear mine all the time! As for sex, my doc said to wait 6 weeks..we waited 3...and took it very slowly and with my garment on..LOL!

Aloha Veronica-
Your surgeon is certainly the best authority on advice for the swollen bruised mons ( but everyone asks here as well!). It shouldn't be more painful than anything else, the pain and bruising discoloration would make me want to contact the PS ASAP ( impending infection, too much pressure from seroma or hematoma, ongoing bleeder, etc).
I had a flabby poochy mons pre op ( Circumferential body lift, breast lift and augmentation all at once), and my PS did some liposuction there, if I recall, but it was never distended or firm post op beyond a little expected swelling. He did put 7 drains in (one in each breast, 2 from my buttock area that drained to the front, 2 from below my pannus, and one from my mons) as I oozed alot at time of surgery despite being off the Vit E in the multivite 3 weeks pre op....but I had no bruising post op ( yours appears to be at least moderate) and at 8 days out. my drainage was more amber colored than red or purple. I had the drains pulled starting at Day 2 all the way til Day 12 post op, and the mons drain was the last one pulled. None of my drain areas were sore or tender. I did not have to wear any compression garments, all extra swelling was resolved by 4 weeks post op and even when I work out hard I never swell. In hindsight, I'm actually glad he put in so many drains since that's the recovery I got!
Started sex at about 3 weeks post op but I felt great from about Day 2 on, and had already been cleared for exercise at 3 weeks.
A word of caution.....if you had an RNY, then Tylenol ( acetominophen) is your only choice of NSAID that can be used for pain...remember that there may be acetominophen in some of the narcotic pain relievers ( like Vicodin, NorCo, Percocet) and that your maximum dose should be 4 g/day TOTAL, no matter where it comes from. More than this can lead to liver toxicity.
Be well, please check with your surgeon- the turgidity ( firmness) and pain is concerning. XOXOLori
