problrem with pouch

I had a LBL on april 15.  I was put in a compression garment at the time and have a binder to wear on top.  I am to wear them 24 hr aday and should be taking the binder off and loosen the compression garment to air out and wash up  for 1-2 time per day for 15-30 minutes.  I think the compression is putting pressure on my pouch.

I am having problems with my pouch. Nausea, burping, reflex. and at times pain.  It is difficult to eat.  2-3 bites of food or about 1/2 cup to liquid is all I can do before getting sick.  I try to eat small amounts often but it is like I am nausea all the time because as soon as I feel better it is time to eat again.  I am on medicine for nausea that is not helping.  The Dr. said I should not have Nausea for the Anastasia this far out.  Also I am off pain med.  At first I had constipation and now I have diarrhea.

My  incision is healing well  I feel I am recovering great except for the stomach problem.  I am more frusterated then anything.

Has this happened to anyone else and do you have an suggestions?

 Hi there,

Did you also have your muscles tightened, if so that could be the problem but to be safe you should consult both your PS and your Bariatric Dr's.

Take care

Thank you for you help.
I did have musle tightening and that expains the fact that I can only eat small amounts.  I've been on the phone several times  with both the Ps and Bariatric Dr's.   They both say thay have not seen nausea problems caused by compresion.  .  The Nut at the Bariatric dr's suggested I go back to liquids for 2-3 days.  Then purees for 2-3 days. Just to let my pouch rest.  I go the PS tomarrow and hope they have suggestions. It is the belching and refux that is nasty.

Wish me luck,

You are only 10 days post op so these could all be post op related, just be sure to mention everything to your PS when you see him tomorrow and please let me know what he says.

Good luck and keep in touch.

Brenda,

How long has the nausea, etc. been going on?  Muscle tightening can cause a decrease in appetite, but my surgeon never mentioned it would cause nausea.  There is a terrible stomach bug going around everywhere.  My husband contracted it, then two days later I did, which was only a week after I'd had a fill in my band.  Even so, I questioned whether it was band-related because he only had diarrhea, whereas I also had vomiting.  If it's only been a day or two, it might be that.  It took about 4 days  of liquids to start to feel better.

I hope it is something this simple for you too.

Those are the exact same symptoms I had when I was diagnosed with an H.Pylori ulcer. You might want to ask your gastroenterologist about those symptoms.

With a  H Pylori ulcer did the symptoms come on fast.  I was normal before surg and the symptoms started right after the surgery.  At first I thought it was from the Anastasia but it has been going on for almost two weeks and getting worse.  I hope to get answers tomarrow.

It really just came out of the blue. Some kind of bacterial thing. I lost like 8 lbs over two weeks -- that is when I went to the dr.

Just a thought but why don't you go a while without the binder and just use the garment to see if you aren't applying too much compression or just wear the binder and go without the garment and see what happens. It won't hurt anything going a few hours without one or the other this far out. Sometimes garments can be too tight and uncomfortable so I think it is worth a try. I hate to see you having so much trouble with nausea because it is really important that you get in extra protein and nutrition during this critical healing time. Please keep us posted.
