Looking for Encouragement

I have pre-op testing on Monday and surgery on Thursday....hernia repair, panni removal, TT....I would appreciate positve words of encouragement from those who are newly out of surgery and having a positive experience.  Would like to know how long you were hospitalized.  I have two surgeons...a plastics and a general.  The plastics office is saying 23 hours....the general surgeon is saying 4 days.  My plastics wanted an expert hernia surgeon to do that portion of the procedure.  The plastics is the lead physician.  Anyway...looking for support and encouragement....THANKS.

I had a lower body lift and hernia repair in September. It was a combined surgery where both my general and plastic surgeon coordinated operating time. Things went really well, so well that with the muscle repair mesh was not required for my hernia repair. I was supposed to be in hospital for 1 night, but I ended up staying in 2 night because I had bad nausea that hit me the morning I was supposed to be released. Once they had me on anti-nausea medication I was good to go. Recovery went well. I am sure you're in great hands and will be pleased with the results. I am so happy with mine, and I just had my second and last plastics procedure last week.

All the best with your surgery.

I just had a tummy tuck and panni removal Monday the 19th of April. So far everything is going very well. I was not supposed to have to stay in the surgery center and did not have to end up doing that. My surgeon however did require I stay in a motel in the town where I had the surgery performed with a support person. I went to my sons house for two days after that and have been home every since then with no problems. I didn't have two surgeons, only one but mostly wanted to lend you my encouragement. Good Luck.

All of my procedures have been outpatient. But having a hernia repair I'm sure makes a difference. I didn't have that done. If you end up staying in the hospital take advantage of the extra help. It's nice to have someone helping you those first few days early post-op. I wish you the best and look forward to your updates.

2 weeks ago, I happened to have done 3 tummy tucks, all with hernia repairs (I fix them myself as I am trained in gneral surg. as well).  All patients pain scores were 2-4 on a scale of 1-10 the first 3 days after surgery, and by 2 weeks all are driving and one is back at her desk job.

The LBL + BLfrom last month ago is going to ride her motorcycle this weekend !

I might suggest asking for an On-Q or Accufuser pain pump, which I believe goes a long way in minimizing discomfort and limiting the amount of narcotics you need.

Happy healing !

My gastric bypass was by dr. davis in houston - went wonerfully.
I just had my plastic surgery from Dro. LoMonico ... that was by far one of the easiest surgeries.  His staff is absolutely AMAZING
don't stress over the surgery ... follow al the directions -drink lots of protein... I stayed 2 days .... and if you do it as they direct you will be up and moving in no time.   BE SURE to get ready to sit in a reclinging chair ...   take it easy adn follow directions

I can't offer much info with the hernia repair but the pain from my LBL wasn't as bad as I expected. Just stay on top of your pain pills. Having a lift chair makes it so much easier to get up and down on your own without messing with the lever or the leg part to pu**** down. Also get plenty of protein to help with healing. It makes a huge difference!

Good luck!
