How soon?

 My dr does not believe compression garments make any difference at all in recovery and says to do what makes me feel comfortable. Well after a lot of research I think I want to go with a compression garment. I had a tummy tuck and pannectulectomy (sp) Monday the 19th. Now my question is when do I start wearing the garment I purchased? My incision is still very fresh and I have two drains in. I go back to my surgeon Tuesday for removal of drains, maybe and just for him to check progress. Just wondering when to start wearing compression.

Did the surgeon give you a binder to wear?  I had to wear the binder for 4 weeks, then compression panties for 2 more weeks.

 no binder, no nothing. that is why i was wondering if i should be doing something right now.

Hmmmm, I was only supposed to take mine off long enough to shower.  I think the idea is to hold everything in the right place plus cut down on swelling.  I have to admit it did feel good most of the time.  I don't know if it will make any difference in the long term but I think I would start wearing something now, it will make you feel better while you heal.  Best of luck.

I woke up in my binder and wasn't to take it off except for showers for 6 weeks. Even after that I still wore it at night. If I were you I'd start wearing it now. It shouldn't really matter w/ the incisions or drains. I didn't have any problems w/ either while wearing my binder.

I also woke up to the binder on me  and only to take off for showers  until 6 weeks then was told it was up to me.

I woke up with my compression garment and was told to wear it for 6 weeks 24/7. I think you should be wearing some type of garment or binder now.
