Compression Garments...how long do you wear them for?????
I had bracio done last week and just had a question regarding the compression garments.
I am wondering how long you were told you had to wear them for? I am going to ask my surgeon for sure, but I swore he told me for 6 weeks. Does that sound right?
I was also wondering about how often during the day do you wear them? Obviously, only being a week and a half out I have been wearing my all of the time, but doesn't there come a point where you only have to wear them sometimes?
Just some questions I was curious about.

The compression felt good on my arms and I had little to no swelling during my brachioplasty recovery. I wanted my scars to heal as best as they could so I continued with my compression and twice a day massaging for an extended amount of time. I wore mine for 3 months. My scars are very flat and have healed nicely.

My dr told me 24/7 for 6 weeks too but the longer the better. I quit wearing mine during the day at around 6 weeks and wear them during the evening and night. It was getting to be too much trouble to wear long sleeves/sweaters to work everyday to cover the garment. Plus it's warming up here in Texas! My scars have been flat since day one so I've been really pleased. I think massaging has helped with that too.

Thanks everyone! Sounds like the procedure is pretty much the same. My doctor said 24/7 for 6 weeks as well. I can see how they could get addicting, my arms do feel so much better when I have them on! It is going to not be fun however having them on during the nice spring days, but what can you do!.
