Why more than one braichoplasty -arm lift surgery?

I had an arm lift 2 wees ago and it was painful and kicked my butt. I see some post here have had 2nd arm lifts. My surgery is only two weeks out but my elbows are freightening. They look like golf balls; the dr says the swelling will go down and the skin will flatten out. Also, I have shooting pains in my forearms downs to my wrist.

My question is why the second surgery? What made you want to undergo the surgery twice? Is there something I should be watching for so that I won't need a second surgery?

Thanks

inmy case, I think I am going to need a revision or at least some lipo done because now that the swelling is gone, I still see too much hanging and my elbows still have a lump of fat on them.  I'm hoping lipo and the gym will address both of these issues and another surgery won't be necessary but it not then I am willing and ready to do it over again.

By the way, I'm 5 weeks out today and my arm incisions are all closed up and flat.  The pain and swelling was very minimal.

My surgeon put it this way, she said she did not want to committ to a longer incision if it was not necessary.  She said she preferred to do a revision if I needed the longer incision to take care of the elbows.  It made sense to me.

I had physical therapy about two or three times a week for I think it was 3-4 weeks starting about a month after my surgery and I think that helped a great deal.

For me it was because the first surgeon I used did not take enough off my arms.  You can see in my before/after pictures there is a HUGE difference between the job he did and what my new surgeon did for me.  I hated to have to spend double but I knew I would never be happy with my arms the way they were.  I could not be happier now.

FYI - I got those shooting pains down my forearms to the my wrist too....I think it's part of the healing process.  I remember it happening after my first brachio and just yesterday I said to someone that it is starting again.
Also, my incisions have flattened out now nicely.  You need to massage them at least twice a day to soften the incision and tissue under it.....you don't want hard scar tissue to form under the incision.  I did not do a good job massaging my elbows after my first brachio because I knew it would be re-done and they remained very thick and hard.  So my point is start massaging them if you aren't doing it already........

Best wishes on your healing!
