I tried and failed last month. I hope someone out there is having better luck. If you are please post it and tell us how you did it. I was very disappointed because I thought I was documented. The rules have gotten tighter lately.

I am in Washington state and also have Tricare Prime. I developed a Hernia when I was 1 1/2 years out of RNY, so when I went back to my gastric bypass doctor he said he would do the Hernia repair and a anchor tummy tuck at the same time. No questions asked.
I am aware of others here who also had their tummy tucks done at the military hospital.
It's probably dependent on which Tricare area you live in.
Keep pursuing it, you might get lucky and have yours done thru Tricare also.
Good luck,
Fran

A friend of mine had her TT covered by Tricare.  She had surgery with Dr. ALbear in Tampa.  In a nutshell tricare is going to want to see documentation of on going issues that have not been responsive to less invasive treatment. They will also want to see pictures to determine how far down the panni hangs.

I too have Tricare Prime and was approved for a panni due to medical neccessity. From what I understand, Tricare will allow a TT but you have to pay a portion of it yourself. Hope that helps.

Hi Janet,
I have Tricare Prime and my doctor sent in the necessary info for a panni.  I was denied at first and appealed their decision.  Just yesterday I received their reversed decision.  I am now approved for the procedure. Be persistent and if you must, appeal should they deny you.  They look at it as cosmetic surgery in the beginning but once you have submitted your appeal letter stating that it is medically necessary, that should change things.  I hope all works out for you!

Blessings,

Nina
