Will insurace pay for plastic surgery? If yes, what are the usual requirements? I am only six months out but I already have areas of concern. Thanks in advance for any advice you provide.

Mine isn't paying for anything.

What I found out that it isn't a matter of "will insurance pay for it or not."   But rather, "how is my policy written?"  Whether or not insurance will allow it depends on how it's written in the policy your company holds.

My insurance company, said in the letter back to me and the surgeon that they don't deny I need it, it's just that with my company's policy it's specifically written that they do not cover plastics other than for anything related to reconstruction, such as breast cancer.

My insurance also did not cover any of my plastics. You'll have to see how your policy is written. Some people are fortunate to have insurance that covers certain procedures once they are determined medically necessary.

Hi there!
I have Athem PPO and my insurance is covering everthing. I have already been approved, I'm just waiting to see what date is available for me at the hospital.

Good Luck.

I have Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO and they paid for my TT (without documentation of skin rash) but denied the breast lift due to no documentation.

Good Luck!

Policies vary greatly. In general, if they do cover plastics, you have to prove that it is medically necessary (criterion determined by ins), you've documented the problems with your PCP, and you've tried 'traditional treatment.

It is best to contact your ins directly. Find out their policy and start documenting to the exact language of the policy.
