Tummy exercises after tummy tuck?

I am about 10 weeks out from my abdominoplasty and I'm still having occasional swelling and some soreness, which I know is normal. I am wondering when it would be safe to start doing abdominal exercises. I have been doing light cardio but nothing else because I'm trying to keep it light. I'd like to get back into it though!

If you had muscle tightening I would say no.  You don't want to strain, stretch or pull those muscles.  If you had muscle tightening I've been told crunches won't improve things.....you are already tight.
If you have not had muscle tightening I would say at 12 weeks its probably pretty safe   BUT you really need to ask your surgeon.  Don't take what I say to the bank, I'm not a Dr, not a surgeon and do not know anything about the procedure he did on you.  Give them a quick call...they really won't mind answering your question.

My Dr. gave me the OK to go back to full exercise w/ weight training (including abs) @ 6 weeks. I actually waited until 7 b/c I didn't get the final drain out until week 6. It was fine at that time, just worked at my own pace. It definately was a little tender when first starting like you'd done a tough ab workout the day before. I'm about 9 months out and have been doing them since 7 weeks out w/ a 6 week break in the fall for my MTL/BA/BL and feel no pain or have had any problems since.

My doc gave me the all clear at 6 weeks too. I have been doing toning ball workouts and biggest loser DVD's. No problems so far. I am actually so excited that I will finally be able to see the results of my ab workouts since I don't have all that extra skin covering it up.

I'm 3 months out from my TT - and have just started back into exercising.  I'm doing yoga and zumba - and I can feel the muscles in my stomach tighten.  Its not  a pleasant feeling either, and I am very mindful and careful not to overdo it.

Just be careful and listen to your body.  My Dr didn't give me a timeline - but then I didn't ask either.

I got the OK at 3 months...just got it...I can't believe how little muscle tone I have.  For example, I cannot.....cannot....lay flat and raise both legs at the same time.  I use to be able to do the plank for one minute....I cannot even get in the position!!  So discouraging!!!
