I picked up some arnica montana yesterday to help with swelling in my left arm...I had brachio/LBL 5 weeks ago.  It is a chewable tablet and says to take 1 every 30 minutes til pain subsides.....so if I am taking to help with swelling..how many should I be taking???
Thanks!

I've never seen a chewable........are you sure it's 1 every 30 mins?  What is the strength of each tab?

I always take the Arnica Montana 30x which melt under you tongue.  I take 3 tabs, 3x a day for about 3 weeks.  It absolutely heps reduce the amount of bruising I get.  I think it works more on bruising than on swelling.  For swelling I swear by Bromelian....works like a charm for me.  I take one extra dose each day and it really does help me.

Sorry I can't help with the chewable tabs...

Hi Michelle, I had an Arm Tuck  Feb. 23rd and are using a scar creme with arnica montana in it and it seems to be doing good. It is called Scar Esthetique. Several places carry it on the internet.  I had the swelling in my arms too at the beginning. Worse in my left arm then my right.

Be careful because one side effect of Arnica montana is bleeding.
It happens rarely but it can happen, so please be careful not to overdose.  Any natural remedy has it's downsides and we need to be cognizant that it's still a drug - so it can hurt to try it if we aren't 100% sure of what we are doing.

Arnica has been seen to be safe when used in diluted or homeopathic doses for a maximum of two weeks under constant supervision of a doctor or health care professional. However, at extremely higher doses, arnica montana can lead to very serious side effects and even death. Possible side effects of high arnica dosage include stomach discomfort, nausea and vomiting, as well as liver and kidney damage and organ failure.

Skin rashes, lesions of the mouth and eczema might occur in some people as a result of allergies. Topical arnica should never be used on open wounds or anywhere near the eyes and mouth. There have also been reported cases of mouth ulcers caused by arnica-containing mouthwash.

Other less probable side effects of increased arnica doses taken orally include irregular heart rhythm, high blood pressure, rapid heartbeat and heat failure. Theoretically, arnica can increase the possibility of bleeding. If you have a history of diabetes or have used anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs, always consult a doctor before taking arnica, even at homeopathic doses.
