I had my 2 week follow up visit with my plastic surgeon & will begin using ScarGuard on my arms twice daily...I was just wondering if anyone had used this product on their scars, and if they were pleased with the results?? Thanks! Pat

Thanks for posting this...I had brachio last wednesday and had my follow-up yesterday with the surgeon and he advised I use scarguard as well. I am very interested to see what people have to say about it. I obviously won't be using it for a few more weeks, but it will be interesting to hear about your results.

I have used Scarguard on my Brachioplasty scars a year after I had the surgery and it has worked! I tried the silicone sheeting immediately post-op using them religiously for 6 months and didn't see any improvement, pretty much giving up until I saw Scarguard.
I am disappointed with the scars on my arms, but don't regret having the surgery...my "bat wings" were far worse then the scarring. I recently had an LBL and the scar is minimal (same surgeon)...go figure!?!

I've used Mederma and had good results (on breasts)
I used ScarZone and was not sure if it was doing anything but gotta say those scars did heal and faded really well.
I'm testing Dermatix (VERY expensive), I've only been using it about 10 days and I think it's making a difference on my LBL scars which have been pretty red.  I'll know better in about another 5-10 days.

I've also used just vitamin E and that scar is very faded, really can't notice it.

Soooooooooooooo I'm at a total lose as to which to use......I they all have similar ingredients and probably all work fairly well for reducing the redness.

To flatten the scar, the only things that work (for me) are daily massage of the incision line, rubbing in Vitamin E, wearing my compression garments faithfully, and Silicone strips on the once that really need it.

I don't think my response is very helpful.....just informative.....sorry.
Best wishes on your healing!

Your response WAS helpful, thanks! I'm wondering if they all have similar ingredients?? The ScarGuard was $68 for a 1 oz bottle...so not cheap...but worth it if it works! I've not tried massaging the scar, so will try that....am wearing the ace wraps pretty tightly....and am to wear them full time for another 2 weeks, and half time for 2 weeks after that....how long did you wear them on your arms?? Just curious.  Good luck with your healing...I'm sure you're looking GREAT! :-)

I massage my incisions at least once a day (should do it twice but most days I don't)...For the first 3 weeks post op I rub the polysporin in.  Starting the 3rd week I rub in Vitamin E....gotta be sure it's a gentle massage on and around the incision.

I keep the arm garments on for at least 1 month but if I have any swelling I'd keep them on longer.
Remember the compression not only helps keep down the swelling it helps the skin re-adhere to the tissue underneath...you want it heal smoothly......that's what compression helps to do.  :-)

Hope that helps....
