Numbness post-op TT
I had extended TT with lipo of abdomen and flanks, GB scar revision and breast lift on 4/9/2010.
My back is numb on both sides along my hips, from the spine about half way around.
Is this normal? Related to the lipo of the flanks? If you experienced this, how long did it last? I am terribly bruised back there, too!
Honestly, aside from these darn compression garments it is the most irritating part of this surgery!!

If you had lipo you can expect lots of bruising and lots of numbness and it will last a long time.
Personally I think you need to ask your surgeon just to be sure since you say it's close to the spine I would want to know for sure.
Lipo is very hard on the body and takes a long time to heal.

Unfortunately it is normal. The numbness along the hips is most likely from the TT. The combination of that and the lipo is just adding to it. The bruising should go away at about 3 or 4 weeks depending on the extent. It took about that long for the bruising to go way on my sides but the bruising from the lipo on my knees was gone in about 2 weeks. The area in my knee is sore when I massage it only but the soreness on my sides was gone in about a 3 weeks. The only places I notice a little numbness is in my knee but not too bad. My lipo experiences so far haven't been as bad as I've heard. Of course it may depend on the amount lipod plus the locations. I will be having more done on my back down the road but I have a feeling that one will probably do me in!
Hang in there!
