LBL tomorrow- so nervous!!!

My lower body lift is tomorrow- and I am SO nervous! I'm having it done with my original gastric bypass RNY surgeon in Colombia. He's really wonderful and I've seen his plastic surgery work, so I have every confidence in him. But people keep telling me how much it's gonna hurt and how I'm going to spend 2 weeks in bed, etc.. it makes me really nervous. I am such a baby sometimes when it comes to pain, and I think the anticipation of pain is even worse. I'm having the LBL done for my thighs mostly (my stomach doesnt have too much loose skin but my thighs are disfigured after losing 100lbs and being a pear shape) along with what they're calling "smart lipo"- which is kind of lipo but that helps to shape/contour your body. I have a good shape already, but there's definitely some fat that needs to get rid of.

I'm also going to be having an arm lift and breast augmentation probably next week. I know it's kinda terrible and against everything we know as Americans, but for timeliness issues I'm getting these done back-to-back. I've also heard that BA hurts a ton, since it's under the muscle/etc...

Just feeling really nervous about all the supposed pain I'm going to feel for the next two weeks- and then leaving the comfort of my friend's house to fly back home on May 1st (2 weeks after LBL and 1 week after arm lift/breast aug). Oh boy, just nervous...

My gastric bypass, I remember being in pain when I woke up and the next day, until the gas subsided. I remember thinking I'd never come back and do anything else- and now I'm here. My gastric had ended up being on like a Tuesday and I flew home on Friday, feeling fine. But just nervous about all of these other things... Well, excited about what the future holds and what my body will look like- but also nervous about pain for the next 2 weeks!

All the best with your surgery Irina. Best piece of advice I can give is if you don't have them already, get stool softeners andstart taking them as soon as you are out of hospital. You don't want to deal with constipation.

For me, my chest hurt the most post-op. Placement under the muscle felt like I wa**** hard with a 2x4 right across my chest. I am 4 days post o now and it's a lot less painful. I didn't find recovery from the LBL that bad, but I didn't have any lipo which I think helped.

All the best with your surgeries!

I personally believe you are having your surgeries way to close together. Never mind the pain, just trying to get through an airport that soon afterwards is going to be difficult. I hope you will have help to carry your bags and get a wheelchair when you get to the airport. That really is quick to try to maneuver all that in such a short time frame. Okay, I'm off my soap box now.

I would highly recommend you have a lift chair to help you get up and down from a sitting position after your LBL and arms. That really helps from having to use your arms and stomach muscles to push the lever and the leg part down. If you can't have that then at least a recliner would help too with lots of pillows. There is a post further down with a list of things to have on hand that might help. The pain from my LBL wasn't as bad as I expected. It was just a lot of soreness and feeling tired all the time and just not myself. The arms weren't terrible it's just the lack of mobility that sucks. I didn't have a BA just a BL and that was a breeze for me. Just stay on top of your pain pills and take your stool softeners and you should be okay.

Good luck with everything and keep us posted!

WOW, having a LBL and your arms done at the same time....you are one brave girl.  I don't say that because of pain.....take your meds and you'll be fine....I say it because after the LBL you can't use your stomach muscles to get you up so you need your arms but you won't be able to use them either.  I hope you'll have help staying with you for a while.  As Melissa said a "lift chair" might be a real good idea for you.

FYI - I had a breast breast reduction and lift and there was absolutely no pain.  I did not have implants but I've never heard anyone really complain about major pain from having their breasts done.

Best wishes
