I am 23 lbs from goal and I am wondering if I am going to be too thin if I get to my goal and then have plastics or if I should set my goal 10 lbs higher.  What did you do and did any of you feel you were too thin after?

I am starting to wear a size 10 now and I think I only want to be a size 8. I am not sure though I think I was a size 5 in th 5th grade, so I am not sure how that would look on me now lol.

I'm not sure about you, but most of us have learned that our excess skin weighs a lot less than we think. It seems it's heavy, but after it's removed and weighed, we are all shocked.

I think you can probably start consulting with some surgeons and get their opinions as to if they feel you should lose more or not.  With my surgeon he does some Auto Butt Augmentation and if the person has lost too much - he is not able to find enough fat to lipo to move to the Butt - she he does a Butt Implant.

I started out at 138  he took 3 lbs of skin from my tummy  and he said I should end up in the low 30's  I was happy with that  but five months later I have crept back up and I am guess what?  138.  Hmmm I wasn't happy at the low 130's I thought I looked too thin and now I am frantic that the weight is going to go up because I am in the bounce back phase  18 months post op gbs   so   I want to get back in the low 130's again... so here I go  why can't I be happy where I am at.. I cont to stay in the size 4 to 6 range despite the 8 lb difference.  Hope that helped you.. if not I am sure it definitely confused you more !!

Good Luck.. Your gonna love your new body.. I know I do !

After years of research in his own practice as well as others, my surgeon who did my gastric bypass told me I'd probably gain 10-15 lbs. during my first year of maintainence. He says your body "finds" a weight to be easily maintained, and stays there. That being said, I reached the lower range of my "normal weight". I did gain about 8 lbs. in the 2 years that followed. Five years ago, most plastic surgeons recommended a year of maintainence before any procedures, but it seems as though that waiting "rule of thumb" has changed. I see many posts here of people having plastics without any period of maintainence or some not even reaching their goal weight. I was 2 years at my goal weight before I had my first plastic procedure. What does your plastic surgeon recommend?

No, well not really.
I set my goal based on the mid point of my healthy range and wanting a healthy BMI.
When I first started I thought all my skin would weigh about 30 lbs.....but.....After MUCH research and many conversations with 6 or 7 different plastic surgeons I learned that skin does not weigh as much as we think.  I would have thought my tummy would have weighed about 10 lbs....
So as I got closer to my goal I figured I'd allow for about 5 lbs in total....... .turned out the skin removed from my tummy was not even 5 lbs.  It was all skin...no fat (and no lipo done).

PLUS you have to remember that the body is like a sponge....when they are operating (especially if they do any lipo) you can actually come out of surgery weighing more than when you went in and it can take months to get back to the pre-op size/weight.  This is especially true when lipo is done.

My advice, pick a realistic healthy goal and when you are at goal or within 5-10 lbs start your procedures..... just my 2 cents based on my personal experiences.

Best wishes on your decision and journey.
