Did you use compression socks after having a LBL?  Some people have said that there ankles, feet and lower legs became two fat sausages after surgery, so I was wondering if anyone used them and if so what compression did you buy and where did you get them?

I am 2 weeks post op from a lbl/brachio and I have not had any swelling in my legs at all. Only swelling I have had is in my abdomen and mons. I have not worn any compression garments at all on my legs or feet aside from the pneumatic compression machine they had on me in the hospital to prevent blood clots.

I didn't have hardly any swelling in my legs after my LBL except for the first couple of days. You will most likely be resting with your legs up anyway so that will definitely help keep the swelling away.

I will be 4 weeks post LBL tomorrow, and had swelling in my lower extremities for about a week post-op. I'm assuming it was due to the massive amount of fluids everyone receives in the operating room and in the hospital(I'm a nurse and know what goes on in the OR). I wore the compression garment my surgeon fitted me for which went from the bottom of my breasts to right above my knees.

my lowere extremities swelled so i bought TED stocking form the thigh to the foot and I also had knee high that I wore with my compression garment that went to the knee, I bought my compression garments from
www.marenagroup.com, i have one that goes to the knee and one that goes midcalf

I did not need them after my LBL....I just wore the full length compression garment.  BUT after my Inner Thigh surgery a few weeks ago I needed to add compression hose to my outfit (I wear them under my compression garment).

You can buy them on line or at your local medical/surgical supply store (check your yellow pages...the old fashioned way)

My surgeon put me in teds + the compression garment that went below my knees - it had a side zip, don't know what kind. After that, I used the capri length Walmart one that was great- but they don't seem to carry it anymore - after that I did find a capri length smoother at the Bali store that's good, too.  But as far as compression socks, Teds are the only ones I know about.
