Help!

I had a LBL w/anchor cut a lil over 3 weeks ago. While I still say the 5 drains that I had to deal with were the hardest part,  the rest of my incisions are healing very well. I do have an issue that is bothering me. I have an opening that formed about a week ago(after the scab came off) at the junction between the vertical and horizontal incisions. I know this is common problem and I do see my doc on wed but I was just curious that if this happened to you, what did your surgeon do? Did he tell you to keep a dressing on it, antibiotic ointment, did he put another stitch in it?  It seems to be "filling in" but it still oozes constantly and just won't heel( not infected though). It seems to also seem bigger in the evening when I am more swollen in my mons area. Any ideas or suggestions, please! Thanks

I'm very thankful that I did not have a problem were the incisions meet...I worried about that but thankfully it healed nicely.

Anytime I "spat a stitch" which can cause a break in the incision I was told to glob on the polysporin and a gauze pad.  Always worked for me....some completely healed in 3 days or so and one took about 2 weeks.  I'm doing the polysporin thing now with my inner thighs whenever I see a little split....so far I'm holding together pretty well.

Best wishes with it.

I had that opening, but mine started because it got infected and yes it oozed, it was fairly good sized opening.  I had to put gauze in it so it would drain the infection and so it would heal from the inside out, I had to do that for about 4 weeks.  When I took a shower he said to be sure that the shower sprayed into it to help keep it clean, then I would do the wound stuff for it 2 x a day.  I didn't have to use any antibiotic ointment but I was on an oral one for 2 weeks.  No, no stitches added.

Thanks so much for your replies. Thankfully it's not infected! I am keeping it very clean with soap and water. Then I glob on the antibiotic ointment and cover with a dressing. I guess all I have to do now is wait. I'm so impatient!

I used silverdeen and gauze on mine.  If it is doing some serious leaking you could use a sanitary napkin.
