Brachioplasty Surgery Wednesday!!!!

I saw Dr. Fasching, was a little put off at the fact that he wouldn't even consider billing insurance. I was actually iniatially going to go with him, but when I found they wouldn't try to get it covered I had to have some additional consults. I am glad I did, because I was able to get it covered by insurance so have really sucked if I wouldn't have tried because the office said it wouldn't get covered.

I also saw Dr. Lokeh, he was good, but just had some issues with keeping the surgery scheduled. They rescheduled on me 3 different times, very frustrating especially since I specifically wanted to have it done in the winter months when I could wear long sleeves!

I finally decided to go with Dr. Thao. I really like him and his staff have been nothing but helpful.

Me too Rose! My brachio and BL is on Wed am =) All the best with your surgery! I'll be looking for your updates to compare notes.

My friend just had brachio. She took 4 weeks of work, I took 3. She was driving 2 weeks post op and was able to get in/out of her compression garmet on her own (2 weeks too). At 3 weeks she's doing fantastic, range of motion is great.

Congrats!! I had my brachioplasty on April 1st....and returned to work today...could've gone back sooner, but we were out for Spring Break, which is why I chose to have it done on the Thurs before our break. I haven't had to take pain med for quite a few days....and have been very surprised at NOT having much pain. It is a bit uncomfortable/awkward with the ace wraps & today when the weather got warm, they got very hot & itchy...I think I have to wear them for 6 weeks, but am not sure. The pillows suggestion is great...I've not had much swelling but you forget how much you use your arms, so it's a bit frustrating not to be able to lift anything. I am so very happy I had mine done & send best wishes your way!!

The arm lift wasn't too bad actually. I am a little over 5 weeks and I have had full range of motion in my arms since about week 3. I was out even pulling some weeds this past weekend too! The armpits was the sorest part of the whole thing. I was told to wear my garment for at least six weeks but I decided to quit wearing it to work during the day because it was really rubbing on my armpit and leaving it really red all the the time. I'm afraid it's going to leave an ugly scar which is why I am weaning myself off. I haven't had hardly any swelling since about 2 weeks. I ended up using throw pillows to elevate my arms while I was on the recliner though because regular pillows were too big and bulky and with all the compression garments I was wearing it was kind of hot because the pillows kind of covered me so I felt I had layers of everything on me.

The grabber thing is awesome. I have used that for every surgery to grab things up high and off the floor for me. Very convenient. Don't forget the stool softeners too!

Good luck!
