Multiple Procedures at one time?

How long are the surgeries that you have had?  If I break mine down into two procedures it is 6 hours each.  Do you have a better recovery time doing procedures separately?  I am looking at different options, and thinking that the recovery may be better separating??

I've read that others have gone with 7 hour procedures and have done well with them.  "Just kill me now" is how I feel about that!  I'm old.  I don't want to recover from a 7 hour procedure.  But that's just me.  I limited my surgery time to 5 hours per round and that has been just about right for me.  It will take me longer to get my four rounds of planned work done than those that got it all done in one or two rounds, but  it has given those around me time to get use to my new body and my hope is that by the time I get to my face lift this summer my friends will all just ask if I got a haircut, ha!
Good luck to you!

I'm having multiples done:

May 28th: Circumferential body lift with gluteal augmentation and brachioplasty & thoracoplasty

June 25th: Bilateral breast augmentation with mastopexy and medial thigh lift

I was told that the first one is 7.5 hours in the OR and the second is 7 hours.

I'm not sure about the recovery time - but I do know that from a cost perspective, it is cheaper.  Not so much from the physcian but from the hospital and anesthisologist charges.

Not sure if that helps but that's what I've found to be true in my case.

My PS schedule is very similar to yours Lisa. I had Lower body lift (whi*****luded muscle repair) and brachioplasty on 3/30/10 and I am scheduled for mastoplexy and full thigh lift on 6/1/10. My first surgery was about 7 hours and my second is supposed to be about 6. I tolerated this well. I really didn't seem to fare any worse from this longer anesthesia time than I did with any of my previous shorter non-plastic surgeries. This so far has worked well for me.

Thank you!  I am so confused and don't know what to do.  I am thinking of taking a loan out for the procedures.  H ehas broken them down into two 6 hour surgeries

All the surgeons I met with said they would limit the procedure to 5-6 hrs max.
It's not just the length of time under anesthesia that determines how many procedures you can combine.  It depends on the surgeons protocol, the patients health and physical condition, and blood flow (too much cutting in close/overlapping areas will hinder recovery).

You really need to ask this question to each surgeon you have a consultation with.  Meet with a few surgeons you learn a lot from them.....

For me, I originally wanted everything done in 2 procedures but as I learned more and more I decided to play it safer and split them up so I did it like this...

Breast Reduction
Brachioplasty
Tummy Tuck and Breasts Lift
Lower Body/back lift (butt and outer thighs)
Inner Thighs and arms (re-do of brachio)

If I had to do it all over again the only thing I'd change would be to do the arms with the butt instead of the inner thighs......

Best wishes on your decision.

Thank you all so much for answering questions.  I know I will have a lot more and hope you all are patient with me!  Moosie...thanks for all your input! I wondered if you had it split into two surgeries or more.  I only get 4 weeks of work a year off so trying to decide how I can pull this off within two years!  I could do two now, and maybe two next year if I only need two weeks with each surgery

You want to do yourself a big favor and allow enough time to heal in between each procedure, I waited anywhere from 3 months to 6 months between most of mine.....and I had the best recovery after the one I waited 6 months

Thanks!  If I am to do the two surgeries, I will be doing one in October or November of this year and won't be getting the next one till October of next year (because of our vacation time policy we cannot take off between May and September).  So that should work out great with that time span between each surgery.  I just have to decide which procedures to do together.  Not very keen on the thigh lift and tt together, but will talk to him when I go back in.
