Anyone with BCBS of IL? Was denied :(

Hello, I haven't posted much but look here for answers.
I went for my first consult on March 16th,was called on March 19th to let me know that my info was sent to my insurance. I received my denial today. My surgeon had told me that he has never had a denial so was I was very optimistic. I called the office today to see what I could do now and was told the Dr is actually calling the insurance himself. So, hopefully this can be turned around to good news.
Has anyone else here had BCBS of Illinois and been approved/denied?
The denial said no documentation refractory medical treatment for chronic intertrigo and panniculus hangs to or below level of the pubis.
I can understand maybe not enough documentation for rashes sonce I have  no pictures of it but, panni is definitely hanging low.
Any and all feedback is appreciative.
Thanks!

I do NOT have this insurance - however I would like to tell you that Im sorry for your denial and hope that you get the answer you want on your appeal. Some insurances are just funky and almost will not approve you unless you appeal first....guess they are kind of trying to see if you want it bad enough??

Eitherway - I hear ya on this and hope it turns out for the best!

I am soooo ready. Im not easily a sitter. I have today pretty much been on my butt due to my stubborness when it comes to taking anything for pain, but I called finally and told the surgeon that I do need something - just not as strong.

You will eventually be to where I am one day! How exciting!!!! Just keep fighting for your approval and then if it doesn't pan out - credit unions are pretty awesome. We got a loan with GREAT terms!:)

I have that insurance and was denied the first time I sent in also. However I spend the next six months getting documentation after documentation and got my approval letter yesterday. So hang in there and do what you need to do. Just keep going to the dr and getting that documentation.

Hope this helps.

I have documentation with this Surgeon for the past 5 months so.......hopefully it wont be too much longer. I may be moving back to WV in August so was really hoping to get it taken care of here and soon.I would have the same insurance but would be out of network.
I have such a busy summer starting with my son's wedding July 3 in WV. I had never considered tummy tuc****il I moved here and found a new Dr for my RNY and he is also plastic surgeon and he thought would be no problem so I of course get excited. I am not going to worry about it what happens will happen.
Thanks for your reply and I will continue with documentation. The Dr is suppose to call back after speaking with insurance.

I have BCBS of MN.  I received my denial letter about three weeks ago.  I am in process of getting further documentation as well as case specific letters from my lap band nurse *****commened that I consult with a surgeon and the surgeon himself.  I get the impression that it is common to be denied at first until you can display through the appeal process how serious you are about following up on this.  I am very serious and expect to send in my formal appeal within 2 weeks or so.  Katie.

Thanks for your reply! So, do you send in the appeal or does the surgeon? I have no clue about this so, thank goodness for all of you guys.

In my case, the appeal must come from me.  I am going to include a letter of support from the surgeon as well as my RN who has monitored all of my weight loss and documented my history of issues requiring this surgery.
