Sometimes I just have to laugh

LOL - I have my follow-up appointment tomorrow.  I'm literally covered from my shoulders to my knees in steri-strips, gauze, etc..they run along the arms, around my breasts, down my belly, around my groin and down to my knees.  I've got stitches wrapped around my groin that have to be pulled out (OMG, not looking forward to that!)........ the thing that strikes me funny today is that as I'm getting ready to take my shower this evening my biggest concern is that I can't reach to shave my lower legs....like the surgeon is really going to be grossed out by the my hairy legs given everything else he will be looking at!!!!!!  

I'll admit - that is funny - but it's the "lady" in us that makes us very concientous about these things.  Thanks for the wonderful, hearty laugh this afternoon - I needed it!  Can't wait to hear about your follow-up visit tomorrow.

I didn't have any stitches or steri strips but I can totally relate to the hairy leg thing! By week 2 I made sure I had made some attempt to shave my legs...at least the front part! LOL

I admittedly shaved my crotch this morning....with an electric shaver since I can't fully bend to see everything yet - didn't want to risk lopping off a lip or something...because I was going to the doc and would have my bit's semi-exposed! LOL! I too worry about the weirdest things!

 

how about this:  you know how I've been having problems with my stitches in the upper thigh and groin popping open.   My normal routine at every appt is to get completely undressed and put on the little paper robe then slowly manuever myself up on the table and spread my legs open then wait for the doc to come in.

Today, he shows up with an army of folks coming in behind him.  Since I'm going through the Residency Program and my doc is now a full fledge surgeon and teacher, he decided to bring in 2 of his residents and his for mer teacher.  So, I'm laying there with my legs spread eagle with the big bright light shining down on me while 4 people poke, prod and discuss what is going on in between my legs in the groin area!  So he decides that I need a couple more stitches and proceeds to tell his crew what to do.  It's bad enough that I have to go through this 2x's a week with hime but today, I had an audience. Besides how gross my wounds look, I haven't shaved down there in a couple of weeks. 

OK, you win!!! 

All I can say is I sure hope there isn't an audience tomorrow.  It one thing being sound asleep under anesthesia as they are poking around there but to be awake and see him "leaning in" so he can see stitches just makes me shudder!  
I think I'll take a pain killer and a sleeping pill before I go in so I can glide thru this experience.  All this reminds me I have my GYN appointment coming in a couple months.....the fun never ends!

He's quick about removing those stitches. I just focused on the nurse and tried not to look at him...LOL I don't think it's real comfortable for him either but he's very business like and it's over in a flash.

The nurse is good at distracting me...lol
I just hope he gets ALL of them out so I'm not having to mess with any at home.
