I going to search for a lymphatic masseuse. I looked about 6 months ago but didn't find one, maybe I'll have better luck this time.
I hope to order some of those Jobst compression hose tomorrow too.
Thanks for the info!!

You might ask your doctor to refer you to physical therapy because there might be a lymphedema specialist physical therapist. That is how I was referred - and as you have probably read, that type of massage is very different. It is very light, and working from feet up to mid body, pressing the fluid along.
I also had to wear compression wraps - not ace wraps - at night and then shower and pull on the 60 mmhg hose - which took about 20 minutes each day. Mine are thigh high up to my butt, and my insurance totally covered those hose. Keep your legs up for now, keep them wrapped and under tight compression from toes up and ending above the swelling. And when you are not with legs up, walk and move them. Dont sit with them down, and don't just stand. Move or elevate.
Oh, and all my complications were covered by my HMO health group.

I think I found a certified lymphatic masseuse....I'll calling in a few mins.
I also found a local medical supply place which carries compression hose...my surgeon suggest 20-30 mmhg so I'm going to give them a try. Matthew will pick them up for me this afternoon. I can't wait to get them on. Meantime I'm laying down again and have the legs in TEDS and elevated.
I think I'll give my insurance a call too just to see if they will cover any of it....
Thanks for all the great information and suggestions!!!

I had inner thigh lifts Dec. 30 and my calves and ankles started swelling about two weeks out from surgery. They became almost unbearable by weeks three-four. I thought my legs would pop! My surgeon sent me to purchase thigh-high compression stockings. From the moment I put them on, the pressure improved and the swelling lessened. I hate wearing hose but I loved the compression stockings cause my lower legs didn't swell when I wore them. My surgeon said the swelling was at its peak during weeks three-four. He was right. I only needed the stockings for a few weeks but they were worth the $110 I paid for them.
Now my calves and ankles are swelling slightly. When I get home from work, I immediately elevate my feet and the swelling subsides. I think the unusually warm weather is causing them to swell.
You are right, this too will pass...

Hi!
Just curious did you get JOBST compression hose or something different? Were they like panty hose or just thigh high?
I want to order something on-line tomorrow...I can't stand it anymore!

My doctor's appt went ok. Swelling still there but after sleeping in recliner last night I did notice a difference (Mine goes back far so my head is really down and feet up). Basically this should pass...keep feet up when can..wear compression and I am sure my diet does not help. I have a soup "thing" and I know I need at least a solid week for really very low sodium. I will try. Already have all my errands planned for tomorrow though..not sure how I will take it easy! No pops in the incisions though. I am bummed..I was supposed to have this back in December but had a band slip..I just keep thinking I would be 3 months ahead of the game right now..ug! No use being grumpy about it I guess..ONWARD HOME!
Hi, I got the thigh high stockings (not panty hose) at Compression Works (see below) I hope you get some relief soon. Deb
