Postponing April 5th surgery after funky mammogram

 Hi All
Well after moving like a freight train gathering momentum to get everything in order for surgery within a week, I have been de-railed. I had to cancel.
This week I did a million tests, some for the surgery, some just ones I had put off for a while.
Well I did a mammogram and to my surprise was called back (nothing in my family history).  They did another mammogram and then a sonagram and found calcium deposits -looks like a tiny galaxy --in a spot on my left breast.  The large spots are benign but the smallest ones simply cannot be seen well enough to determine if they are benign or cancerous. So-need to do a central breast biopsy and get path done before any surgery.
It has been the last of a series of bad news really - my lipase levels in my blood tests were elevated as well and really I should look at that before surgery as well. It means I am not absorbing fat properly-can be pancreatic or something else. Have to do an ultrasound for that too. It results in my feeling gassy and bloated a lot and shying away from food a bit.
Then!! (Just have to make this list )  Also found out recently that my first "boyfriend" after separation (leading certainly to divorce) gave me an STD. He didn't mean to -- but he was careless and so was I to trust him. Singledom is a steep learning curve.  Now I have to carry that around.
And there's more, but enough said.
It's probably for the best, that I did the test and caught it if it is malignant-- I know-- but it's scary and disappointing.
Last, but still high on my list is the fact that my STBX responded with more compassion and kindness to my news that my new guy which puts him on the out tray in the long run.  What a week!

Thank you. I am sure it will - won't spend time worrying about things until they happen.  I am just emotionally exhausted tonight.  This journey --weight loss and the identity changes it can bring, and for me, relationship changes too -- is tumultuous, exciting, challenging --- I only hope I can learn from it all.

Sorry you had to delay but I'm sure it will work out for the best for you.

I had to delay mine last July and everything worked out better than I ever expected.

Hope things turn around real quick for you.
Best wishes!!

 Thanks Moosie
There is a little boy in my neighborhood who is nicknamed moosie too -- he is a blonde tornado of energy that is always up in a tree!
How long did you have to delay? Were there medical reasons? my reason to "rush" is travel and this now growing nefarious boyfriend I suppose, so i will try to reign that in.

Yes my delay was medical. I received some questionable test results from my GYN and from my PCP (2 different tests) both recurred further testing and took a couple of months before I got rescheduled.   I think I was actually scheduled for mid or late June and ended up having surgery on Sept 2nd or 3rd.    During that time I decided to switch surgeons and found the most wonderful surgeon so it all worked out for the best.

Because of the delay Matthew and I also had to cancel a trip we had planned to go overseas but hopefully we'll get to do that this year.  :-)

Best wishes to you

Awwww Jenny,
I can imagine how down you are feeling right now. You know it's probably a blessing in disguise because you might not have found out otherwise, but that's no consolation at the moment. I really feel for you .... as long as Dr. K doesn't bump MY surgery on April 22nd to fit you in LOL. Then we'd have to have a girl to girl talk.

As to nefarious boyfriend - go on the trip, enjoy yourself, make sure he picks up most of the tabs.

LOL. Nawww...he'll bump some office appointments and add an OR date.
Thanks for the sympathy. : )
Last night was rough but a night's rest always helps.
I just have to do some clean up to undo the preparations for next week.
That and figure out what to do with the guy I am seeing who is so hard to communicate with and just dloesnt get it. When I spoke to him after learning this and was upset and discombobulated -trying to process it-- he writes later that I was "out there" --spacey.  Didn't offer to come by or anything or ask for details and then wants to go out tonight but not if he has to drive the babysitter home in the opposite direction to his home. I don't want to deal with a break up right now and I enjoy his company but clearly this is not going to be forever I think. Sad realization. Ah well. Life moves on : )
I will let you know what happens with the operation reschedule

Wow this is so similar to how my week started.... FYI my tt & bl WAS scheduled for 3/31

So having just turned 40, when I saw my General Practitioner last week she said that I could postpone my first mammogram until after my surgery.  Don't have any history of breast cancer so we figured we could wait. (sound familiar)   Well I went to my Plastic Surgery pre-op on Monday and he suggested I try to make a next day appt for the mammogram just to get a baseline before my Breast Lift.  He specializes in weight loss and breast reconstruction, so he understandably wanted to rule any issue out.  Sure enough they were able to get me in at 3:15 yesterday.   I was chatting with the x-ray tech and told her I was having surgery the next day and the tech said that she would have a dr review the scans right away, just in case they wanted more photos.  Well sure enough they did so I went back in and they looked at a targeted area. They Dr reviewed them and came in to tell me that she saw an area of concern and that she would normally schedule a biopsy right away.  She also thought it was small enough and early enough that I could go ahead and schedule the lift and come back in 6 months for the biopsy.  Unfortunately the Dr believed the chances of it being some sort of cancer was the upper end of 25%.   So we opted to check into my breast issues (biopsy scheduled 4/7) and then look at surgery after that. It  was a bit of a roller coaster, but I am comfortable with my decision and I hope you are too! :)
