Post LBL Question - Hernia? How would I know?

Hey there everyone!

I have a question about the LBL I had last summer:  When I cough or sneeze hard, or sometimes for no obvious reason at all, I find I have a sharp pain just to the left of the top of my LBL incision (anchor cut) ... where previously I had no pain at all.

It's tremendous, sharp, muscle-tearing type pain, and then it subsides quickly.  It's been going on now for about a month.  I'm putting off calling the surgeon, because I'm not sure which surgeon to call ... the RNY guy, or the plastics guy.

Not to mention, I'm never in any hurry to call any doctor.

So my question is... hernia, at a past surgery site?  Does that happen in the upper abdomen?  Can it be a consequence of the RNY lap?  Or likelier the pannus repair?

It could be a hernia. With that type of pain I wouldnt want to mess around. I'd call the PS Dr since it is near the LBL incision and that is the last thing you had done. I know seeing Dr's isn't always fun but better safe than sorry. You don't want all your hard work messed up. Good Luck

Either of those surgeons or even your family doc, are going to order a ct  right off the bat.  So it doesn't really matter.  Just go to whomever is convenient.  You can always take the CT to  another doc later - it's yours.
