FYI: "hourglass figure" ratios

Hi
In trying to decide which size implant to do, I did research on the net.
I found a useful formula for hourglass ratio proportions that I thought I would share.

Evidently, in many studies cross-culturally, the "preferred" bust to waist to hip" ratio was .74 or .7.  That means if you have a waist measurement of 29 and divide that by .7 or .74, you will get a visually appealing measurement for the breast area.  In this case, 41 inches.  I am sure you could go bigger, but that is the minimum cited in the studies for that curvy view.

Not endorsing it, but felt it was useful in what seems like a random kind of choice to me -- how many ccs. I am just going to tell the doc, after the tt, measure my waist and do this calculation, and put at least that much in !

My waist is smaller than that, but my bust is 41...and I personally feel VERY BUSTY..and from all the stares I get from guys apparently they like it! LOL! My husband is quite fond of the porportions as well. ; - ) I would be happier being smaller, because it's hard to fit all that into a medium sized shirt, I usually have to get a bigger shirt to accomodate my chest...that part is frustrating for me. And don't even get me started on dresses...not made for women with boobs!

I think the perceived size of breasts depends on your frame size -- height, shoulder width and BMI - so the fact that you have a smaller waist (how much smaller?) will make breasts look better. If you are short or petite, then it will appear even more so.
I do know what you mean about the shirt size. You don't want to have to wear baggy shirts or be a person that people see your chest before your face --or notice it anyway!

Yes, I am short...5'3".  My waist is currently 28" and my hips are 37.5 inches and my bust is 41".  So my waist is only 1 inch smaller than what you listed.  I can wear size 6 and 8 pants and skirts...but when I go to buy a dress, I have to buy at least a 12 or 14 just to accomodate my bust.  Same thing with button up shirts...anything made fitted usually takes into account a smaller bust.  I'm not saying I can't find shirts...it's just a lot harder.  I end up looking like Jessica Rabbit...which is OK for going out, but not so great to wear to work.  I'm not complaining about how I look, I'm thrilled with how I look...I just think maybe I'd be happier with a smaller size bust.  I don't have implants, I just got a lift 10 weeks ago...so this is what God gave me and I'm sticking with it!  Good luck on picking your size!!  I'm thinking those measurment ratios were made by a man!  ; - )

Yes they were made by men! The ratio was determined by surveying men's perception of women's attractiveness in various cultures and this was found to be a number.
Thanks !

this makes sense, but what cup size would work best?  I don't want to be top heavy, but I would like to be attractive.  I'm thinking that would depend on my height and weight.

In college, I was a 38DD/26/38.  It's exactly the rule of .7 --

I never realized that until just now.

Interesting topic.
