Plastics at a teaching hospital?

A friend from the Over Fifty Forum (age wise) suggested I visit here. I had LAP RNY in 2005. I've lost 160+ lbs. I had a lower body lift in 2007 and would like to have an inner thigh lift next year. I'm exercising and determined to take off the 20 lbs of regain before having that done. I am self pay. My lower body lift was very pricey and pretty much depleted my savings. I start drawing my Social Security next year and plan to help pay for the inner thigh lift that way. I friend from Texas suggested checking into teaching hospitals. I live in Washington state and wonder if anyone out there has plastics experience with the University of Washington? Thanks for any info.

Ruth, I'm doing my best to stay afloat til you return. I'm paddling hard and so far so good, but don't you dare stay away too long. Walk those halls and just report in so that I have some to be accountable to!

The one post I've got so  far is a great startling point for me. Just what I needed, names and addresses of programs and who to contact! I was so happy to hear you don't have drains. I had 3with my lower body lift and they were pretty gross. I still over my husband bigtime for the help with cleaning those the first few days. Pretty humbling!! I take way too much pride in being a "I can do it myself girl!"

I found this listing.  I do not know if it is still current.  Oh and it seems like someone posted something about this program but I cannot remember who.

Residents have assisted with all of my plastics and provided most of my bedside care while I was in the hospital.  I have been very impressed with the care I have received.

Thank you so much. This is a great starting point for me. My daughter lives in Seattle and I have a friend who is a resident at OHSU. I'll check them both out.

I am so happy to know the information was helpful.  Keep me in the loop and let me know how it turns out.  Oh, and if neither of these work out there are programs all over the country.

I have had a wonderful experience with the Baylor Residency Program in Houston. There are several women on here who have used some type of residency program. There was one lady that I was communicating with several months ago who used the Washington program. I'll see if I can find her username. She was very impressed with the drs. I think she had 2 rounds with them. There is always an attending board certified surgeon who is with the resident. The residents are also general surgeons and are in their final semester before they go into private practice. They are much more reasonable than private practice drs.

Good luck!
