So I just had a Tummy Tuck last Thursday (four days ago)and I am feeling so depressed. Had gastric bypass 3 years ago and went from a size 22 to a size 6. Did I really need to do this? I can't move, just looked at the scars andthe hanging drainstoday and I'm wondering if it was worth it (it scared me). I am always on the go and now can not imagine how I am going to sit in the house and be off work for 4-6 weeks in this tight @^#% compression garment. Does it get better? Somebody please tell me this is worth it.

Yes - it gets better. Just look at my posts here on the board. I had surgery on the 16th (1.5wks ago) and I was in the hospital an extra day - came home and had to ride the ambulance back for a few hours. I got super depressed about my drains and the pain they caused and my feeling "broken". But after I got the drains out - I turned a corner and Im starting to feel MUCH better. Still hurt - but managable and Im able to move around better. Still gotta take it way easy - but  the depression will lift and things will look up.
I just am at that point where I can't wait to see what I look like when I actually fit my clothes again!

First, Congrats on your weight loss and recent surgery.
It is normal to feel "blue" post-op and to have buyers remorse...this too shall pass.  Yes it is worth it.  After surgery you might have "mood swings" for a couple of days or a week.  You can be real down in the morning and flying high by the afternoon.

Swelling STINKS...but it happens to everyone...it happens to us in different degrees but we all go through it.
YES, you must wear your compression garment especially if you want to minimize your swelling.  Even if you wear it for the full 3 months post-op isn't it worth it in the picture since it will help you to get better results in the end.

Yes it gets better and yes it it so worth it (IMHO)!

Take lots of after pics and compare them to your before pictures...you'll be amazed at the changes you see.

HANG IN THERE!!!!

Thread Hijack - why did you have to have your breasts re-lifted only a year later? Do they begin to sag that fast?

I had to have the breasts re-lifted because I made the BIG mistake of having plastic surgery before I was at my final goal weight.  After having the Breast Reduction/lift I lost about 40 lbs and the girls got saggy again.  This is why I always tell people to wait until they reach goal and are stable/maintaining their weight loss.

If I had waited I'm sure I would not have needed/wanted another lift.

Thank You both!!!!  I haven't been on OH for a very long time and I'd forgotten how comforting this site can be.  Guess I'll stick around to make it through :-).

Hi there!  I haven't had a TT yet, I'm just starting down this road.  But, think back to when you had your WLS. On day four you probably weren't feeling that great.  Right?  I know I had that "what have I done"  feeling for quite a while.  Looking back now I know I had nothing to worry about.  So maybe you can use your previous surgery experience to get you through this.  Hope so.  Maybe you can catch up on some movies or books you've missed.  Hope you feel better soon.

I haven't had plastics, but I would imagine that this is extremely stressful and you will probably feel all kinds of emotions all related to dealing with the stress and drugs given during surgery. Hopefully you'll be feeling better soon. As the scars heal and fade, so will the memory of this temporary depression.

I went through the same thing. It didn't last long though. It's the immobility and feeling tired and just not like my normal self that gets me the most. I hated that part. You are not alone. It will get better even though it may not feel like it right now. Hang in there!
