i'm on day 8 post op and the incisions in my groin area are killing me!
The whole area is very tight and swollen and a couple of spots have opened up and you can actually see my flesh.  My surgeon has looked at it and prescribed some additional antibiotics and also given me intructions on how to "milk" the area and clean it with peroxide.
I was just wondering if anybody else ever had this issue and how long did it take to close up and heal.  Everything is just so tight down there, very uncomfortable.

I'm only 2 days out and am not having a big problem with groin area ...not yet anyway...but I hope it doesn't happen.

ANYHOW, my surgeons nurse recommended spray "dermaplast" on the groin area up to 3x a day.  I have not tried it yet but trust me at the first sign of irritation or pain and I will spraying!  FYI - you can buy it at Walmart or CVS, Walgreens....it's by the first aid ointments

My legs feel real tight too.

Are you sure the Dr said to use peroxide on that area???? he didn't say a saline solution or polysporan?  Seems to me peroxide will STING like crazy!

Best wishes....I hope you feel better soon!!

will definitely look into the dermplast...thanks!
yes, he definitely said hydrogen peroxide.....he cleaned the areas several times in the office then sent me home with a small bottle and the syringes.  It doesn't sting or burn.  Doctor doesnt think it's too serious but I guess I'm just freaking out about it cause it looks  and smells so horrible.  The antibiotics are working because the smell has gone away now after being on them for 2 days.

I pray you have a speedy recovery with no complications.

What you are describing is exactly what has happened in my arm pits.  It was nasty to look into your flesh like that and my ps milked it as well.  I am amazed that it didn't hurt as bad as it looked.  Good news for you is that it does get better.  I am 3 weeks post op and even though it's still open, it's not as big and has no leekage at all anymore.  I know these are different areas but they are the same type of wound!  Hope you have some fast healing!!

From what I understand they can't restitch it.  If they do then it could cause an infection.  They say it needs to heal from the inside.  Mine started at about 1 1/2 inches long.  It happened at 1 week post op and at 3 weeks post op it is now only about 1/4 inch long.  My dr had me keeping it clean and applying Desitin on it.  It seems to have worked wonderfully!

Update:  Ok, so I  contacted my doctor who had me take pictures of the areas I was concerned with.  He said that everything actually looks preetty good and explained to me  sometimes the stitdhes will open up buIt as long as it is draining, it will heal.  I feel a little better because I was having a serious case of buyers remorse and depression this morning.  Just felt like others were much further along at this stage than I am.  It's Day 9 and I'm still just laying around.  Only get up to go potty and have turned down all visitation requests.

It's got yo get better real soon!
