Mons Lift? Huh?

Hopeful-OH

So I'm getting my panni removed on April 6th, plus tummy tuck & BL/BA & now I'm reading all these posts where people are saying make sure you have a Mons lift or you'll look like a guy.  My PS never brought this up with me & I never brought it up.  Forgive my ignorance, but when the panni is lifted off of me, I can feel that area lift also, so I just assumed it would probably lift with the surgery.  I'm now thinking I assumed wrong.  Can anyone clear this up for me?

And thank you for your time!

It probably is included in the procedures you are having done, but I would check with your doctor to just make sure!  MIne was included with my LBL.

I think it really depends on how your mons is.  Mine needed to be lifted - the TT wouldn't have done the job!  I'd certainly ask if I were you!  I told my surgeon, "if I wake up from surgery and I have that Mons and it's not lifted, you're going to be in big trouble Mister!."  He laughed and assured me he would take care of it for me!  Please ask.  I'd hate for you to end up looking like a guy!

No - I would absolutly ask your surgeon and not just assume (some only pull the top down, not the bottom up). And then I would INSIST on it.
I have seen a few people here on this board (Im not naming names - cause I am not in the business of making people feel bad when they are happy with their results) that have what is referred to as a "Ken Doll". It even seems to protrude past their hips and belly.
When we get fat - we get fat EVERYWHERE including our girly bits, and if that isn't pulled up and cleaned up a bit - you will have something that looks like you are packing in your jeans.
Im not sure where you are - my but surgeon Dr. LoMonaco is very aware of this problem and automatically includes the lift in your tuck procedure. I must say I am quite pleased with mine.
But I would look closely at your surgeons before and afters and then ask him about those lifts.

What some refer to as the "Ken Doll" has nothing to do with the Mons.  It's an occasional swelling that is below the incision line.  Many have it when their have overwhelming edema.

Most drs do include this since they are already making the cut but there have been a couple of instances where it wasn't lifted and they have to go back and pay to get it done as a separate procedure. I think that's just crappy when they do personally. I have seen some where it was lifted but I think it was lifted way too high and it doesn't look natural if you ask me. You can tell that the doctor didn't remove the excess skin from the top of the pubic area which is why it appears too high. Just make it clear how you want it to look and you should be fine. Communication is key.

You need to discuss this with your PS -- before your surgery.  Some people need the area lipoed a bit so your surgeon will need to plan on the equipment and ER time.
