Panniculectomy Questions
Thank you both for the input. I'm a little concerned about my mons area to be honest. My surgeon told me we were going to do these surgeries one at a time because my pannus is so huge. He told me my mons area would look distorted and I know that it will because ive picked my belly up and looked in the mirror and its TERRIBLE. I said the same thing to my husband that I will look like I am smuggling junk in my pants if not dealt with. His fear is of bleeding because my pannis is so massive. I'm gonna have to talk to him again though and see what he can do. I guess I need to put my foot down and be firm about it. The military is doing my plastics so unfortunately there are good and bad sides. No cost for me, but I get what they deem as neccessary. I thought at first that I could deal with the mons area for awhile, but after reading more, I'm gonna have to speak up.
Yes Sweetie, please speak up about this. I have seen my friend in person and that is why I was so adamant with my doctor! If you pick your pannis up - you can see what you'll look like if the pannis is gone but the Mons remains as it is now. Mine was horrible. It was very large and hung down very low. I hate to ask this, but does your surgeon have a lot of experience doing plastics on someone who has lost so much weight? For me, that was the main reason I chose Dr Sauceda in Mexico. he had a lot of experience doing plastics on people who had lost a lot of weight.
12/09 and 6/11, 9 skin removal procedures with Dr. Sauceda in Monterrey Mexico
Revised to the Sleeve after losing 271 lbs with the LapBand.
I had just a panniculectomy and am happy but also a little older (LOL ) I have no belly button and it is fine for me if you want I am pretty swollen in my pics and pretty happy . I still have some hernia repair scar and it will always be there , for I was on a wound vac with that sugerey. Good luck on your decisions and your weight loss is great!!

I understand that you need a couple of surgeries, but if he is 'down there' there is no reason to pull up the mons. I asked my surgeon about it, and he said, he will cut like a little tryangle at the top of the pupic hairline, downwords, and then pull everything up.... so, instead of cutting a straight line across, he will dip down, ------------___------------ and cut... hope that made sense?
