Arm Swelling

I had drains in my armpits that were removed 3 days post-op.  My swelling was bad for about two weeks and was pretty much gone by the end of the month.  I'm 3 months post-op right now.  I LOVE my arms!!

I had my Brachioplasty in December - I still have some swelling.  I had lipo done too to make  my arms more shapely.  I wear my garment 24 hours a day because my swelling is much less and my arms feel much better as well as the garment helps keep my silicone scar strips in place.

p.s. I had a drain in each arm, elbow area.  They were removed at around 10 and 12 days post op.  He removed 8 lbs from both arms - so I think that is why I still have swelling.

Iam ~ Did your surgeon recommend a grament for your arms?

I asked my PS & he said he stopped using garments 2 years ago - now he wraps them in ace bandages. I don't want to swell - so I'm thinking I should get a garment. He said I could - but to wait until after the surgery (May) so I will know what size to get.

Does everyone wear a gament after brachioplasty? I'm having lipo as well.

Many thanks!
Linda

My doctor actually told me NOT to wear a compression garment.  My hands were swelling, especially the left one, and he thought it would worsen it. I haven't worn any kind of garment or bandages at all.  I am concerned, though, that maybe I SHOULD be!  It makes me nervous to see everyone talking about them!

Thanks for the reply. I think it is just a difference of opinion. My PS use to use them, but now he does not.

I would be very unhappy without my garment.  Dr S uses an Ace Bandage too if you don't have your breasts done at the same time. I bought the Design Veronique when I returned home because the Ace Bandages were a mess., They wouldn't stay on and my hands swelled like crazy!  But at 6 weeks I changed to the Marena sleeves. I love them. I wear them 24/7. They keep my silicone strips in place and I believe they are helping my swelling and scaring! If you order from Marena, use the code word, Skinny to get a big discount. I do prefer the Marena because the Design Veroniques rubbed my arm pit incision and they hurt!

I also had lipo and Ithink the garment helps with the pain.  For me, when my arms are cold they hurt. I understand others who have had lipo have the same problem!

Thanks Iam for the information. I am having a BA at the same time & will have lipo done with my arms. I will keep this info. so when I get home I can order a garment.

Did you order from Make Me Heal - or does Marnena have their own website?

Thanks again!!

It's so funny reading your words because yesterday I said, "Wow, when my arms get cold, they REALLY feel uncomfortable. I mean, REALLY weirdly uncomfortable." And my husband looked at me kind of blankly, so I had to elaborate and try to describe it accurately... and there really aren't any words to describe it... unless you've experienced it!  The cold seems like it deep freezes along my incisions, which is something I've never felt before!
