Arm Swelling

I am just over 2 weeks until my brachio and BL/BA. I was wondering how long your arm swelling lasted? I will have a drain in each elbow which will probably help but wondered how long I can expect the worst of the swelling to last.

Thanks

Hi, I had my arm lift done onFeb. 23rd and my arms are still swelling during the evenings a little. I have been getting a funnyg feeling in my left arm and my PS said it probaly is my nerves coming alive. when I get this happening it kinda scares me that I opened it up.  I go to see him on tuesday and I am anxious to see what he has to say.
                                                       Take care.

I had brachioplasty done Jan.21st and I still have some swelling, especially in the left arm. I also had liposuction, though, so I believe that causes residual swelling. My doc keeps telling me to "be patient." And I'm trying!  It's very hit or miss, though. Some days I have little swelling and other days, it's quite a lot.

Good luck with your surgeries!

Are you sure you are going to have drains?  I just had my arms done yesterday (and my inner thighs) and I have NO DRAINS...WAHOOOOO!

Other than that the drains in the arms usually come out pretty quick.  To stop swelling get your arms elevated....I keep mine up on 2 pillows (each arm rests on 2 pillows),.
After my first brachioplasty my forearms and hands swelled up so big but it's not happening this time around.
Also Arnica Montana and Bromelain help big time with swelling (and bruising).

Hope you feel better....

Yeah I contacted my surgeon and asked, I will have one in each elbow. Not sure if he does that for arms or because I am having amr and breasts. I guess in one sense I should have less swelling to strt since the flouid will eb drained, but man drains suck heh. I think I will do like Renee suggested and sit in the reclined with my arms raised above my head.

Sounds like you are healing up great! That's so wonderful to hear.

Don't raise your arms to far above your head or you'll be like me and open up your armpit incisions.  Not fun!

This is a complete pre- and post-operative healing system designed specifically for patients undergoing plastic surgery that contains all the nutrients needed to help a patient heal more quickly, minimize swelling, reduce bruising, speed wound healing, improve patient safety, prevent infection, and support the immune system. Taken as early as 14 days before surgery and up to 14 days following surgery, the 4-bottle kit includes 2 specialty multinutrient formulas (1 AM bottle containing tablets taken in the morning and 1 PM bottle of tablets taken in the evening) that contain elevated doses of crucial vitamins and minerals that enhance wound healing and speed up recovery, a Bromelain (with Quercetin) bottle containing 60 capsules that helps reduce swelling and lead to faster healing time, and a bottle of 250 Arnica Montana (30X) tablets that helps reduce post-operative bruising and swelling. This product is very safe, does not contain any Vitamin E or other nutrients that may have a negative effect on the cosmetic outcome.

This is from a site I found that sells supplements, so I'm sure its biased... but at least it tells what they are supposedly good for!

Arnica Montana and Bromelian are herbs/vitamins that help with reducing swelling and bruising.  I've used with 3 or my last 4 surgeries and it's worked GREAT each time!!!!
Here's the kit I get (I'm taking them now)....  www.vitamedica.com/html/healingprogram.html

Hope this helps....
