LBL set for May3rd, with Dr philbin of Edina Plastic Surgeons
I had what I would say was a pretty easy recovery. I did have one section of my anchor incision for the TT portion of the LBL that didn't heal very well, but as far as complications go even that wasn't bad. (I had an in ofice revision a few months after) I slept on my parents couch; I found that to be the easiest most comfortable spot. Definitely take stool softeners as soon as you get home from the hospital, you do not want to get constipated. That is the #1 advice!! I didn''t have any issues with the tiolet thanks to them and I perfected squating until I could sit down. Stay on top of your pain meds early out. It wasn't too long before I was off percoset/T3.
All the best with your surgery!!

No I didn't rent. I found the sweet spot lying down with my butt cheeks lined up right in between 2 couch cushions. There was no pulling on the incisions and it was nice and soft. I was able to get on/off the couch without issue. My dad has a recliner chair but there was NO WAY I could get in and out of let let alone actually recline it.
No problem at all! I am actually having my last round of plastics in 2.5 weeks so I am getting a bit nervous again, it's so natural.
The pain management after my LBL was way better then post-wls (I had open DS). I was actually totally fine my first night, granted I was a bit stoned =) I remember telling my surgeon "I feel great tonight but I know it will really suck tomorrow when these pain killers wear off.". He laughed and told me if I was feeling ok at this point it wouldn't be so bad tomorrow. And he was right. I had the compression garmet on so everything was all in tight. I was very hunched over walking but it wasn't too painful. You're very tight. I didn't get up the first night. I ended up staying in the hospital 2 nights because nausea really hit me bad the next morning and I hadn't gone pee yet. I was able to get up the next day, just takes some fancy maneuvering and patience. It will be ok! I was standing upright about 10 days to 2 weeks out. It is worse when you first get up. I was very mobile early out from surgery, I found it easier to stand then lie down (I couldn't "sit"). I also paced a lot while eating to prevent gas. I went back to basics for eating just to make sure my system was the best it could be and to prevent constipation.
Just take it easy, don't over do it.
