OMGosh!!! I just got the call from my PS office that said they got the approval for my surgery!!! This is a mid-journey panniculectomy!! I have posted a couple times about help with this and I am SOOOO excited I can't even stop shaking!!! My surgery date is June 18th... Wi**** were tomorrow, but yes, I know... they are always scheduled way out..
OK.... Along with what should I do to prepare (I have not had WLS, BUT have lost 150 lbs. on my own (but have A LOT more to go).... Should I do protein too?? Any vitamins that help? Any vitamins that I shouldn't take? I am type 2 diabetic and take Metformin every day....
Now for the "girly" question.... I hope this is ok to ask, I have been wondering about this for awhile...... I do not have regular periods.... It comes and goes when it pleases. What if I start on or a couple days before my surgery????? I am SO worried about this. What do I do? They're usually really heavy.. I'm sorry if that's too much info!! LOL.. Any advice would be greatly appreciated on this.

You could ask your surgeon this question to see what their official opinion is...

RNY on 12/10/07 with
I would up your protein..my surgeon had me at at least 100gr per day and he had me take an iron supplement.  As far as your period, it should not be a problem at all (it wasnt for my dr).  Good luck!

Thank you VERY much!! I was thinking about WLS last year, so I bought a bunch of protein samples from Vitalady.. So I will buy some more and get on that!! Any thoughts on the light Muscle Milk they sell at Costco? I have those sometimes.

just make sure that a month prior to surgery you stop drinking any protein drinks with Vit E and stop taking any Vit E.  It increases your chance of bleeding.  I drink the Premier Nutrition from Costco 30 grams of Protein and they actually taste good!

Thanks for the info! I will definately do that, I had heard something about vit. E while doing some research. I didn't know if it was for every surgery or what but I will definately watch that.
