TT Binders

I have the binder I came home with from the hospital but I know that won't last wearing it everyday.  Did anyone else buy another off the internet or at a local store?  If so, what one have you been happy with?  I know they are expensive and don't want to waste my money I'mc on a very, very tight budget right now with not working.

Also, is it a norm standard that after the drains are pulled that you go from a binder to an actual compression garmet?

Thanks,
Michelle

Congratulations on your new belly!  I purchased my compression garment off of www.designVeronique.com.  They are pricey but well worth the money.  The ones I purchased were design 1650 and 850.

I hope this information has been helpful.

Why did you go from the binder to a compression garmet? Is that what your surgeon suggested?

Yes.  I wore the binder for one week and once the drains were taken out my doctor wanted me to wear the compression garments.

I never had a binder. I came home with a compression garment and wore it for 6 weeks and then moved into shapeware. Look through my latest posts and you'll see where I posted the types I wear. I also posted some websites that you can purchase from. Anything that fits really snug like spanx will do for compression since that is what helps with healing and swelling. My dr says the tighter the better.

I took off the binder and went into a compression garment on day 5....I did it because I was swelling in my legs and butt after the TT.  Once I put the garment on the swelling stared to go down...within 3 days I was much better.

I wore my garment with my drains in.

I'm a big believer in the benefits of the compression garments...really helps reduce swell hell!!

Is there a difference between compression garments and shapewear? My doc told me to buy spanx or something similar to wear under my binder. He said to wear my binder for 3 more weeks until my next appointment. Right now I am wearing a spanx that I bought yesterday. It goes from my legs up to right under my bra with my binder over it. I hope that's right??...

Yes there is a BIG difference.  Compression garments are surgical grade garments that fit tight enough to "compress" the skin and tissue so heals nicely and reduces swelling.  Shapewear is basically something that stops the "jiggling" gives a smooth appearance under the clothes.
Spanx are ok usually by the 3 month mark after you've been in a compression garment for about 2-2.5 months (if not longer if needed).

Compression garments can cost anywhere from $80.00 - $125.00 each (some cost more).

Hope that helps!
