Lapbanders for plastic surgery newbie questions?

Hi,

I had lapband surgery in '08 and have lost about 80 lbs.  I have another 15 or so to go.  I have lots of extra skin and am thinking about plastics, particularly for abdominal flabbiness and skin once I reach my goal.  My questions concern the impact of the port on any abdominal plastic surgery.  Have you had any problems because the port was in the way?  Are all procedures ok?  What should you avoid?  I'd appreciate any advice as I am just starting to look into this and want to make sure I don't do anything that will cause a problem with my band or port.

Thanks for listening.

Thanks.  Good luck with your ps recovery.  The drains will eventually get out of your way.  I hope that's sooner rather than later.

I have a lapband too. I had an LBL with the horizontal cut only and did not get my port moved. I am addding the vertical (anchor) cut in a few days and am 95% sure they'll have to move it then, I'll let you know how it goes. That I know of no other procedures really affect the band or port.

My PS moved my port during my LBL.  During my BL/BA, he lipo'd around that area (below my bra line) and I had no problems from it.  Port is just fine.. although not where the band doc originally put it.  It makes it a bit more sensitive when I get a fill, but those have been few and far between in recent years.

I had my port moved to the right while I had my extended TT. I did not have an unfill and everything turned out great!

Thanks for the responses. Sorry I don't know, but what is a BL/BA?

Robin, I wish you luck on the next procedure.  I'm looking forward to hearing about it.  My tummy looks a lot like yours did prior to your tt.  I'm interested in any advice you have about the procedures.

I had a lapband and am 4 weeks out from a TT. My port was moved a little because it was in the way of the muscle repair. This was a good thing since it was only hanging on by 1 suture! It wasn't a big deal for the surgeon, but it was a huge deal for me b/c now I can't even feel it!
