My first ambulance ride - and Still loving my surgeon...

Yesterday - 4 days post op from my full abdominoplasty, lipo and breast lift - my hubby was gone visiting his kiddos and I was home with my little one by myself waiting for a friend to arrive. I began to cough and then my head began to throb and I started heaving uncontrollably. I got to where I was shaking uncontrollably too.
So I called Dr. Lo - told him what was going on and decided I would go to the hospital. But by the time my friend arrived I didn't think I would be able to walk without passing out so she called 911.
I was very scared that I had some kind of blood loss going on somewhere in my body so they did ultrasounds and gave me lots and lots of zofran (I <3 zofran) and lots of fluids. Diagnosis?

Anemia
dehydration (hypovolemia)
vertigo

But the whole reason Im even telling yall about any of  this is because I LOVE my surgeon! The Doc attending me in the ER came in told me she spoke ith Dr. Lo and that he knew my entire case very well and didn't take him any time to recall every detail of everything that happened to me. He "seemed" caring. I then was telling her "OMG He isn't faking it either this guy is the real deal - he REALLY does care about his patients and provides the best care!" She said that she could tell just by talking to him that he is an amazing surgeon.

Anyway - so again - if you live in Houston - I cannot say it enough - AT LEAST GO GET YOUR FREE CONSULT with him! You will NOT be disappointed. You are not just another wad of cash going through his practice. You are a human, practically family - that's how much he and his staff care!

And I promise I will get pics up soon - just trying to figure out how to do it without hubby's ex- checking them out!:)

Glad you got some much needed fluids and some meds. I'm glad it wasn't anything more serious!! And you are right...Dr. Lo is the most amazing surgeon...there is no way anyone can understand all the glowing reviews we give him unless they experience him for themselves!! Can't wait to see your pics!

I am happy to know you are doing better.  As to the pics -- you can always make your profile friends only.  Then you will have control over who sees your pictures.

Ill see if I can't fiddle with that here in a few minutes - I know Ill put my surgeons pic up but I have a question - do I need to black out my nipples or is it okay to leave them?
You should see the pic Dr. Lo took of the skin....AMAZING.

I am not sure about the nipples.  You might want to run it by member services.

Great to hear you have come through it. Also great to hear Dr. Lo is as good as the first impression. He sets such a high standard and I feel very comfortable having him be my surgeon. Hope things are all on the upswing for you now-

You will NOT be disappointed. I am amazed at just how genuine he is! And Im not even one of those people who usually cares if my doc has a great bedside manner. In fact , my RNY surgeon was down right cold - but he was a good surgeon so I didn't really care.
But in elective surgery - you really need that bedside manor and care because you are in significant pain after and you need to know that the Doc really does care that you get the results you want and cares about you as a person! And Dr. Lo definatly does!

In fact - I am planning to have hubby pic up a bottle of our favorite wine to take to him at post-op because we just are so blown away!

When is your surgery - or have you scheduled yet?

He seems to be such a neat person, although I've only met him once, at the intial consult. I LOVE that he is a perfectionist.  It is so encouraging to me to read posts like yours from other patients of his. My surgery is set for June1- lbl and bl/ba. I'm a teacher, so I needed to wait until the end of the school year to be sure I had enough time to recuperate.

Are you taking extra iron for your anemia? My iron is a little low right now. Wondering if I should start to bump it up to avoid a problem like that.

Hope the rest of your recovery is problem free!
