Wound Vac's, when did they come off?

Great way to explain the wound vac. I left the hospital with mine and I did 3 weeks of IV antibiotics (one week in the hospital and 2 at home).

Mine will be on 8 weeks on April 3. But my incisision was big and the tunnels were originally 28 CM, 9 cm and 4ish cm. The tunnels are all closed now. They say it's healthier for the tissue to let it heal on it's own and yes they said the incision has to be flush before it comes off. When I had the tunnels they packed the tunnels with foam and the incision area is still packed with foam. Then the wound vac is attached and taped. So my vac has always worked in conjunction with the vac. The first day and a half after surgery they packed the tunnels and incisions with betadine soaked gauze and I leaked like crazy. It was crazy. So as much as a PITA the vac was I was SO thankfully. They used 2 different foams - one was white and moist and the other black and more gradiated.

Both my infectious disease Dr and my surgeon agree about the wound vac.

Boy oh Boy  I can relate to that vac also!!You know I was never stitched but I do have a pretty bad crater like scaron my tummy. Stitches were never mention to me as an option, but I had this stuff called Silver put  on me that seemed to really help . I was on the vac for about 8 weeks

I have home health that comes M-W-F to change my dresses and clean the peri wound. It's a pain. It's helpful and I am glad for it but I am SO tired of it.  But I've been home from the hospital since February 8 and so I am just tired of it all and ready for life to begin.
