Hi, I had my arms done on Feb. 23rd. and I still wake up with them swelling. I am still wearing a compression on them. Those who have had your arms done, how long did the swelling last?? and how long did you continue to wear the compression garment?  Thanks Gail

Are you wearing a sleeve type garment or are you wrapped with ace bandages? I had better luck with the ace bandages.I was able to control the compression better. I had very little swelling in my arms. I wore the ace bandages 24/7 except for showers of course for 3 months. I applied vitamin e oil to my scars twice a day and kept them wrapped. When I was sitting (which was often) due to having my inner thighs done at the same time, I would recline back a little in my recliner and raise and rest my arms over my head as much as possible. I also used ice packs quite a bit.

I used the Ace wraps that the surgeon put on right after surgery on mine (the compression garment made the incisions in my armpits bleed).  I had swelling for about 3 months.

You are really not that far out of surgery!  I had swelling for 12 weeks too!  I am just now at 12 weeks.  I wear the compression sleeves from Marena.  They do not rub against my arm pits like the garment sleeves from Veronique.  If I do not wear the garment the swelling is bad, with the garment, the swelling is almost not present.

I had my arms done on Jan. 21 and I'm still swollen, too. My doc told me anywhere from a couple of months to nine months... and to be patient. (I'm not very good at patience, honestly!)

Yesterday, my arms were very tender and swollen while today they aren't at all. Go figger. No rhyme or reason to it!

Hi Gail!
Did you have any lipo?  I think that makes the swelling last longer.
With my first brachio I had no lipo....I wore the ace bandages for about 3 weeks.
After my 1st revision-which was all lipo- I wore compression for almost 2 months.  My arms were
puffy, not swollen to the point of hurting at all but it took about 5 months before I could say 100% of the swelling after lipo was gone.

How bad is the swelling?  Is it in your hands or just upper arms?  Are you keeping your arms elevated?  You have to keep them up on 2 pillows so they are higher than your heart.  then the fluid can drain out.  If you keep them down at your sides when you sleep you will wake up swollen.  So have Howie prop your arms up on pillow at night!  During the day take a couple of breaks, lay down and put your arms up on pillows...it really does help.  I know you guys are always out and about but you did have surgery recently and you need to find time every day to let your body heal.  :-)

Take care

Hi Everyone thank you all for the info.  Ruth, no I didnt have any lipo because my arms hung from being heavy but they werent as huge as I have seen some womens. I will just be glad when it is all healed up and when I get up in the morning and my arms dont feel huge. My hands dont swell ony my arms. The first night after surgery is the only time my hands swelled.
Good luck again on having going well on the 25th.

I had my arm surgery on 11/4.  It took about 3 months before all the swelling went away.  I never used compression garments (per my doctor's advice).  Good luck
