How long before the swelling stops?

I had my extended TT on January 8th....I am still swelling on a regular basis. Have a small pooch of a stomach mostly during the swelling time. I can't tell if my stomach will ever be flat. I go see the surgeon tomorrow for routine visit. I plan on talking about it again with him. But, wanted to see what everyone had to say that is farther out than I am.

Are you wearing your compression garment?  If not put it on, it will help with the swelling.

Yes, I wear it 90% of the time. I know the swelling is worse if I don't wear it. At what time does the swelling stop? Do you always become flat again?

You won't want to hear my answer, but I am 8 months out from my LBL and still swell...and I have worn some type of garment EVERY SINGLE DAY. Did you see the post the other day of someone who posted that she was swelling at 2 years out? The longest I had heard was 18 months but this post scared me! Now my swelling isn't as bad as early post op but it was there even a little. Some days out of the blue it was a lot for no apparent reason. Seems like the norm is that swelling can last from 3 months to a year. I am unfortunately one of the unlucky ones. I just had lipo with this last round so I bet I'm starting over. Ugh! I'm just keeping my eyes on the prize. It's either that or cry.

I hope yours doesn't last too long!

 Hi there,

I just read your post about still having swelling after 8 months. I had a full TT last January then a revision in November as there was some loose skin still. I still have swelling. You mentioned u wear some kind of garment every day, what do u wear? I sometimes wear spanx but not every day, do you think I should wear it every day? I feel great other than that I feel great. I still have a little loose skin around the middle but the dr says hes done all that he can, I see and feel it more when I sit down but when I stand it's flat, apart from the swelling of course.

Hope to hear back from u soon and take care.

Thanks

Joanne

I had my anchor cut revised this last round because there was some loose skin too. That along with the lipo and the thigh lift is probably going to really add to the swelling.

I used this unitard when I went back to work initially.  I still have some back fat so this helped the fat roll from spilling over the back of those high waist garments which I hated.  I cut a hole in the crotch because I hated dealing with taking everything off.  I just put an underwear on top. I quit wearing it because if I walked a lot it rode up my thighs but I've heard other women use it with no problem.  This was before my thigh lift so maybe the loose skin in my inner thighs made it ride up.

This one is my favorite. I wore it every day to work and on the weekends when I was out and about.  It takes some getting used to but it smooths out the back nicely and has good support.  I have a black one and a nude one.  http://www.kohls.com/kohlsStore/intimates/shapewear/camisole stops/PRD~353667/Flexees+Ultimate+Instant+Slimmer+Torsette.j sp

This is the one I changed into when I got home from work and used around the house if I wasn't going anywhere.  I also wore it to bed most nights.  If I didn't have the spillover roll at the top in my back  I'd wear this every day.  They also have the ones that you pull up which may be easier.

My primary focus with these garments was to help with my swelling in my abdomen and back.  Now with my thighs I'm going to have to find something that goes to my calf since I had lipo on my knees as well.  I'll probably do that for a couple of months and then switch to something shorter or maybe even go back to my regular once the swelling in my thighs goes away.

Hey Melissa,
For the Instant slimmer (bone in one) did yu find that it rolls up or does it stay put? I wear between a 2-4 but see they only have mediums... I wore a small in Veronique. I am having a heck of a time with the swelling in my abdoman right above my incision line. By the end of the night it looks like an orange under my skin between my bb and scar. Really weird. I stopped wearing my stage 2 garments a while back but because the off the uncomfortable swelling I bought what DaHusband calls my high waisted granny panties..with extra firm control at night. But I seem to be swelling even with it so I have recently went back to the garments to get the swelling down by morning....I am soooooooo over this swelling and garment business. I might try that one binder type from Kohls and see what happens.
Ugh....what us gals/guys go through :-)

Both instant slimmers stay put which is why I like them. I think medium is the smallest size they come in.  I would go to Kohls and try them on since there are a couple of variations of it.  The firmer the support the more snug it will fit so maybe a medium might work with one of those.

This is the pull up waist nipper.  I noticed the smallest size Kohls had online was a Large but this is it.

Here are some websites my dr's office gave me to look through.  Maybe you can find a waist nipper type garment in a small.

Is there a time you are actually flat or is that a pipe dream I am chasing?
