Does anyone have any info on The Baylor Residency Program

Hi. I'm trying to find affordable options in Plastic Surgery due to my having to have alot of corrective surgeries for the amount of weight that I have lost ( 147 and counting)!! I have the usual, no breast, bat arms, fluffy mountain stomach, and sagging everything bottom. Because of this I know and have had a couple of consultations on the procedures that it will be costly and will need to be done in two visits. And I am aware that it's going to be expensive, but I don't want it to be financially draining.

I've even considered Mexico as an option but the Lent of stay is too long because it's expensive and then there is the factor of follow up care. Because the procedure has been done in Mexico alot of home physicians won't touch the work if something goes wrong. I've been looking into financing and can swing it if I use Care credit. But anything over 25,000. total is going to break me for life. So I'm interested in any suggestions, tips, shout -outs that any of you have for me. I would really appreciate it.

By the way I use to live in Houston, I am now in new Orleans, La. But I am willing to travel if the price is right, because it definitely is not here in Louisiana.

I'll send you a PM with the info.  Their costs are very reasonable and I have been totally pleased with the work and aftercare.  I consulted with about 8 surgeons even a couple from Mexico and decided on Baylor in the end.  UT also has a residency program in Houston but found Baylor to be much more responsive.  Both are comparable in prices.  You can do all you need for under $20k for sure.

I've referred a few people to them and I know 2 have had surgery and a couple are scheduled that I know of.  Everyone has been pleased with them.  Purpletb is having surgery as we speak!!

Just wondering if it is all worth the pain. I am having anchor cut and circumferential on the 16 of April. I am scarred it is going to be over the top painful if you can put my mind at ease I would be grateful but don't lie to me and tell me it is not painful when it really is . Can you tell me what to compare it to.

I didn't have an anchor but had a ton of skin. They cut off 6 pounds and took 2 liters of fat. Later I did have an infection and even with all the complications it's been worth it - just expected. I went from a 12 to an 8. I am SO glad that skin is gone. Have you had a csection? I didn't have a circumferential so it might be worse but it was comparable to my csections.

I had the anchor cut and it was no big deal for me.....rather easy actually.
Trust me I would tell you if it was bad.  The pain in my armpits when I first had my brachioplasty done last year was worse for me!

If you are having muscle tightening you'll feel a strange discomfort (almost like pulling) but it is not pain.

You'll do fine!  The anticipation is worse than the procedure.

I was like you and expected the pain to be the worst ever but it wasn't.  I had open WLS and really the pain from that was worse.  Maybe comparable to my csections if I'm remembering correctly.  The worst of this pain is the first 24 to 48 hours.  And really it's always the first time you get up from the bed that is the worst.  The pain pills really help take the edge off the pain so stay on top of those.  You will feel soreness and discomfort but not agonizing pain for sure.  The exhausted feeling is what took forever to go away seems like.

Hi I see that you are nervous, by the smiley, and  I don't know you but if you come this far I know you will do extremely well and you will be posting pics of the new you in no time.

If you don't mind I would like to check on you from time to time just to see how you are doing and what you think about the procedure. I just want some insight and it would be greatly appreciated. I will keep my questions to a minimum and will try not to bother you often. If that's ok.

I don't know why I was thinking it was the 16th!! LOL  Oh well, you'll have extra positive vibes cuz I was thinking about you yesterday!  You must be getting excited!  I have a post op appt tomorrow at Baylor.  Thank God I'm doing better and much more mobile now.  That first week was rough.  I woke up this morning and normally I have my arm resting on a pillow but it was over my head!  I thought OMG!  I have been picking up my arm over my head for a while anyway but not for an extended period of time. I know Dr Iz does most of his appts on Thursdays so maybe we'll run into each other there.  Your first one will most likely be sooner than next Thursday because my first post appts were within 3 days.
