Hi all
well I just came home, had emergency surgery. had sudden pain like labor. on Wed night my belly was swollen 6 inche bigger then usual & hard as a rock & contraction labor pains every 10 minutes. called a couple friends and then my gastric bypass surgeon. I was don almost 3 yrs ago, she gives all her pts her cell #, she told me to go right to the E/R so I went  to ARIA BUCKS
they did a ct of abd, i had obstruction or hernia or twisted intestines, well they wanted to cut me open & do exploratory from my breast to my belly, I said no way. I want to see my RNY surgeon so they called her and she had them send me over to Barix in Langhorne where she
did emergency surgery within the hr. I had an internal hernia which my intestine had wrapped around and was kinked starting to cause an obstruction , boy was I lucky. That was yesterday and I feel great today they kept me overnight. I was so happy she was able to do it laparoscopic
she used an old incision from my bypass and now I have 2 more incisios, thank God no drains.
it is sure a mess if you need abdominal surgery after your TT. but now that I have no belly I can see that my incisions are swollen before when I swelled I couldn;t tell cause my belly was so fat & w/o a belly I could feel how hard my belly was . so there are some advatages for not having a belly

Oh Susan, do I feel for you! I had a similar situation in 2003 and know how horribly painful that is. Glad you're OK. It's a good thing you got taken care of quickly.

Feel better soon,
Nicci

did u have to have surgery?

Yes, I did. I had the lapband at the time and it caused my stomach to twist into a Figure 8, kinking my intestines and causing a bowel obstruction. I hadn't had a bowel movement in nearly 2 weeks and was full of toxins. My original surgeon ignored me, so I found a surgeon in Chicago and he operated immediately.

I glad that you are OK,  twisted intestines are nothing to play with,
i have had two, the pain is so intense that you know something is wrong.
I hope that you recover soon.
I advise anyone who has this type of pain to get to the hospital fast.
