My insurance paid for my RnY with no problems.....has anyone had them pay for your plastic surgery?  Any information is greatly appreciated!

yes, I have the same insurance and they are paying for my arm lift next  Friday.  They denied my thighs and upper body lift but anything helps!  Good Luck.

Thanks for the info!  Did you have to meet any certain criteria to get your arms approved?  They seem to pick and choose since my friend just got denied for gastric through them.....we had almost the exact comorbitites, weight and BMI.

my regular doctor sent a letter to my plastic surgeon who then submitted that along with pictures and I was approved within a matter of days.  I don't know what the criteria was but I'm having a significant amount of skin removed.

I have Federal BCBS & they denied my thighs twice, but just got approved for my Panniculectomy.  I had read another post on here that someone was denied the first time for their Panni & had to submit more pictures, more information, but fortunately I didn't.  Good luck!

Did your plastic surgeon submit your insurance info or did you have to do it?  Thanks for your help!

My PS submitted the documentation to the insurance company.  They wrote a letter, sent pictures & I also provided a letter from my family physician & the physician I see for my bariatric follow up care.

One piece of advice, don't "assume" the PS office has sent the request in.  I started this journey in January of 2009 & in dealings with two different PS offices I "assumed" they had done what they were suppose to do & I waited patiently for 2-4 months for information.  Only after I called to follow up, with both offices, did I find out the staff did not submit the request and had no reasons for it!  I now follow up on everything.

Good luck with your journey!

Blue Cross paid for my arm lift and tummy tuck 5 years ago.  I submitted about 50 pictures along with letters from my pcp and barriatric surgeon.  I was getting sores and rashes in the skin folds of my tummy and yeast infections in my arm pits due to the constant rubbing.  They denied the breast lift even though I was having the same issues so I had to self pay for that and my butt lift.
