I am day 3 post-op from LBL and BL. I am going crazy with the itching. Has anybody else had this problem? My sister-in-law suggested it may be from anesthesia because her sister had the same experience after her c-section.

Any solutions other than scratching which is difficult to do through binders.

I called my Dr. and she said mine was most likely from the stitches starting to heal.  However, she did say that a lot of people complain about itching all over and thought it was do to the antibiotic. I don't think you actually have to get a ra**** could be hives under the skin.  She said benadryl would help in any case.

I feel your pain!!

I had itching at the stitches but I think that was further out after surgery.

I did have an allergic reaction to an anti-biotic at one time after a surgery and itched like crazy all over.  If that's what is going on, you should call your doctor.  Lin

I spoke with the surgeon this morning and he thinks it may be the skin prep they use before cutting. He said that can really dry your skin out. I haven't had my first shower yet, so that's more likely to be it than the suture sites becaused it's not localized. It's all over my chest, abdomen and back. If it's not the skin prep, then it's probably the antibiotic. So I'm going to try to wash off the skin prep and take benadryl. If it doesn't get better, I'll stop the antibiotic and see what that does.
