Dr. S told me to wait 3 weeks and then I had my seroma aspirated etc. So for me it's different. I had to wait til the PICC line was out etc.

She did show me. She said it had to be done a certain way and try remember and to call and ask questions but if I did it wrong it wouldn't work just wouldn't help. but it seemed easy. I am going back the 22nd cause next week is spring break and she's already booked solid.

I found several videos on you-tube.  Was trying to do to myself, but must not be working as the swelling is getting worse

I just called our local girl who does our massages & she is certified in lymphatic massages. I thought she was - her background is in physical therapy. YIPPY SKIPPY.

Now all I gotta do is have the surgery!!

Oh I had forgotten to check about PT's. They definitely learn lymphatic massage and can get additionally certified depending on their speciality.

Does the lymphatic massage offer any lasting effects on reducing swelling? or are they only temporary? and if temporary, how long? for the day? a couple days?

Thank you!

Long term if you're lymphatic system is not damaged or permanently blocked it should "reteach it" it's job.

Glad to hear this !

I love my lymphatic drainage massage (LDM) therapist and let her use my office whenever.  I include an LDM as part of the recovery package for ALL patients (even just BAMs)  and am amazed at how effective Michelle has been at getting really problematic swelling under control !

I live an hour away from my surgeon - so I will use the first lymphatic massage with his therapist and then will see my regular massues 10 min from home for my further massages which ARE covered by my insruance so I get them for $5.40!!!

Though I gotta ask - massaging anything thats' bruised and hurting makes me nervous...is it painful?

Lymphatic massage doesn't hurt because the touch is so specialized and gentle. It's not like a muscle massage.
