I had a lymphatic massage today

I felt immediately relief after the lymphatic massage. Basically she is reworking and opening the lymphatic system. I was on my back the whole time and she showed me what to do at home and go back the 22nd unless I can't do some on my own (She fit me in on short notice). For those with huge swelling issues it's worth it. :)

There was no one here listed on a website that featured those who are certified so I started calling around. If you find someone who says they work on fibro cancer or arthritic patients chances are they do lymphatic massage.

I spoke to someone at the women's center at our hospital about a message for the scars.  She thought I should book a total body massage and she would be able to tell what I might need.  I forgot to ask her about the lymphatic massage. I'm glad you felt some relief from the massage.

Lin it's different from a body massage. A very light touch that basically is done to move the swelling into the lymph nodes. Make sure it's not a muscle massage. That won't help with swelling.

I agree Leah...I LOVE the lymphatic massage...it made a big difference with me too!!  Dr. L includes a free one after surgery.  I was so impressed with how much better it made the swelling, that I then bought a package of 5 more!!!

Glad it worked for you. How often will you go? I was going to go at 3 weeks but that was right after my seroma was aspirated so we wanted to wait.

I've done 3 of them so far, all a week apart.  I got my first one at 4 weeks.   Now we are spacing them out to two weeks apart.

I did about 6 massages and they were great.  It helped me a lot the beginning with the major swelling. It's amazing to see the difference in just an hour.  I massaged myself but never for an hour at a time.  Gets tiring.  It really is important to find someone who does the lymphatic massage and has the proper training.

I have penciled this in to locate someone when I return from CR.

Did she show you how to do them on your own??  Maybe hubby could come & learn?

How long after surgery can you have them?

Tanks!!
