Panny remoal on 3/30/10 ???
Hi everybody! so I finally have my panny removed at the end of the month. NOW, my brain is spinning out of control! lol
any advise about what I need to do before hand would be great.
here are my questions:
1. can I wear a normal bra after surgery, or should i get some sports bras to make it easier to get dressed?
2. did any of you take special vitamins pre- post op? or are our normal 'one a day' pills enough?
I was on the web page 'makemeheal.com' and they advertise pre and post op vitamins, and some cream, and I was just wondering if that is something I need to order, or not?
3. what do I need to get for after surgery? I bought some lose fitting jogging pants yesterday.... but whatelse do I need? please help me out here... its coming so fast, and I am so excited, but so scared that I am going to miss something, or mess something up because I wasn't prepared right.

1. I wore a sports bra, but I had a vertical (anchor) TT. It didn't put pressure on my incision.
2. No special vitamins, but you do want to make sure you get your protein in. It will help you heal.
3. Get loose fitting clothes. I found I was 3 sizes bigger post-op than pre-op with the swelling and accounting for the drain tubes. I had fleece pants, large sweatshirts, etc. I also bought zip up fleece shirts - easier than pulling over your head.
Other things: I went and bought a kitchen timer that was digital. I woke myself up at night, every 4 hours to take my pain meds. It worked very well for when you woke up. Someone very wise on this site suggested that. You will want more than 1 compression garment too - so you have one to wear while washing the other. You will want something like a strip of cloth to put around your waiste (or lanyards around your neck) to pin your drains to while you shower. Be sure to get your pain meds and other meds prescribed filled BEFORE you have your surgery so you aren't trying to find an all night CVS like I did.... Oh - and have some slip on shoes.
I'm sure there are others and someone else will chime in.
Congratulations on your upcoming surgery! I was very nervous like you are too before mine.

1. I dont know if you would need a sports bra for just a tuck. I personally am having breast lift which is why I am using them.
2. I am taking special vitamins included in my Surgeons plan. They are called Vitamedica and are FANTASTIC - if they were not so dogone expensive on their own I would take them all the time!:)
As for creams and stuff - my surgeon (and likely even yours if you ask) has a scar therapy program included in my costs. So that if I need lazer, steroid or strips for the scars it's not going to cost me outside of my original costs.
3. I have 3 sports bras, several of my gym pants, a toilet seat riser (you can get it at Walgreens for $20) and a pillow wedge for laying in bed with head elevated like a lawn chair (bought it at Bed Bath and Beyond
And I have button up shirts as I will not be able ot lift my hands over my head for a good 2 weeks or so.
