11 Days Post-Op TT : Abdominal Cramping?

Hello All -    I'm 11 days post-op from an Anchor Cut TT. Yesterday evening I started having cramping that I think the best way I can describe it was like labor contractions or really bad period cramps.  The cramps got better when I laid down.   The problem is that I have Restless Leg Syndrome (a disorder in which there is a need or an urge to move the legs to stop unpleasant sensations).  Pre-Op I was able to control the RLS via an iron regimen (I'm anemic and low-iron contributes to RLS symptoms), however, post-op it's come back to me full force.   So, in order to help with RLS I need to move my legs or walk around. But in order for the cramps to subside I have to lay down.  But as soon as I lay down the RLS kicks in.  And there is the cycle.   Get up and walk to relieve RLS - get cramps. Lay down to relieve cramps - get RLS.   Over and over and over again.   I've had little to no sleep all night - the cramps were bad enough that I was in tears.  I'm going to call my PS's office in a little bit after I try and rest a little longer but thought I might ask if anyone else had these cramps, too?  I don't recall reading about cramps in my TT research.   Thanks! Tisha

I can't help you with the cramping, sorry, but I would like to suggest that you get yourself a prescription for ROPINIROLE  for the restless leg syndrom. This stuff was and is my lifesaver!
before I started taking it, I basically was not able to go to sleep for 6 month... I was walking around my living room at 2, 3, 4 am....  felt like a zombi!!
The FIRST pill I took helped me sleep!!!!!!

hope you get better soon!  Karin

Thanks, Karin.  I haven't tried Ropinirole before.  I have used Miraxpex in the past.

I had started taking iron supplements religiously back in December and my RLS was 95% under control with tiny spasms.  I was able to sleep through the night for the first time.

Post-tummy tuck I had still been taking iron supplements but just realized a few minutes ago that I've been taking ferrous sulfate which is not what my gastric bypass body can digest very well.  So, off to Wal-Mart today to get the correct kind of Iron supplements that I was taking pre-op and I hope that helps things.

What makes you want to move your legs?
I have something that happens on occasion - like once or twice a week where I feel like things are crawling on me and I move but not sure if RLS is what that is?

Sorry to hear you have so much going on.....sounds very uncomfortable.
I can't help with cramping I did not have that happen after my TT.
Have you called your surgeon?  If not I would suggest you call the surgeon.  It could be that you pulled or strained a muscle.  I did that around week 5....putting ice on it really helped!  But PLEASE do not just go and put ice on your stomach....call y our surgeon first.

I hope you are feeling better!!
