Hello,

I had brachio Nov 20.  My pre-op tests included some blood work, an ekg, and an x-ray.  That's it! (BTW I am 54).

My 26 y.o. daughter is having a panniculectomy this Thursday and she only had to have blood work.

Good luck!

Brooke

Hi Pat!
How exciting your time is coming soon now.
Here's how all of my pre-ops go.......

They review the blood work to make sure I'm "ok" for surgery.  Depending on how long it's been I may need to also provide a current EKG but that is very rare.
They have me sign a lot of forms which (a) gives them authorization to do the procedure (b) basically acknowledges that I know all results are always what is expected...in other words, releases them of any liability (c) outlines what to expect
The Nurse reviews the procedures, I ask a ton of questions including sharing with them what my expectations are so I'm sure we are on the same page.
The nurse tells me what to expect post-op and what I need to do or not do during the first days/week.
The nurse gives me all the pre/post meds prescribes and instruction on when to take what.
The surgeon comes in and takes updated "before" pics...that's always fun....NOT!
I ask the surgeon some questions and again review with him what my understanding of the procedure is and what my expectations are.  This way I know all 3 of us are in sync.
I pay the balance of the bill and go on my merry way.

Hope that helps!!!
I'll be thinking of you come April 1st.

Thanks, Ruth!!
I'm hoping that the compression garment that I bought from you will meet their "requirements" for my "after" care...in lieu of paying $150 for the doc's garment! I'm getting very excited....and am looking forward to having "normal" arms!! Thanks for your encouragement & support!! :-) I'll let you know how it goes!!

PatMBo,
Remember to take pre-op measurements.  I forgot to do it right before surgery, but I found some measurements that were taken a couple of months before, so I used those for reference.  It's nice to see the number of inches that was removed.

Just a thought!

Good luck,
Brooke
