Will that garment fit under a suit??

I haven't even had my surgery & I am already wondering about returning to work.  I'm having a TT (with lipo) arms & BA.

I plan on taking 5 weeks off. When I return to work - I will need to be in high heels & business suits. Will that compression garment fit under a suit??

What about the arms - will that garment fit in a suit jacket?

I read that we are suppose to wear the garments for 6 weeks - maybe I should just take 6 weeks off - then go back to work without the garments.

What have you all done?

Thanks!

Linda

They remove a lot of flesh during these procedures.  So even with my compression thingie, my clothes still fit fine.  Suits tend to hide a lot of stuff, don't they?  (But don't you wish that more women's suits had inside-pockets for things like keys and driver's license?)

Keep in mind, though, that you may have swelling that makes your clothes fit differently for a while.

Thanks Charming. I'm thinking I may have to wear my "larger" suits the first week back to work.

I know everyone at work will be exe[cting this fabulous body - and they may not see it for a whilte.
Then I plan on going shopping for some nice new clothes!!

If I take 6 weeks off - can I go without the garments during the day - and just wear a 2nd stage thing?

For the arms - do you have to wear them for 6 weeks as well?

At just about 5 weeks, I'm about to ditch the arm/bra contraption.  The bra portion has stretched out and isn't very supportive.  My arms are healing great with no swelling so I'm willing to test the waters there.  Today I went shopping for a high waist girdle --- more supportive than flexes or normal spandex but not as restricting as this binder.  I didn't really find what I was looking for yet, but when I do, I'm switching immediately.  I haven't gone more than 2 hours without a binder on for the entire 5 weeks.

I can't believe you are 5 weeks out already!!

Struggling into nylons & a suit this monring I was thinking that it is going to be an Olympic event when I go back to work!!

Maybe I should just take the full 6 weeks off - then I won't have to worry about the binders & just wear 2nd stage stuff.

How are the new boobs doing?

Six weeks is not a guarantee, some people continue to wear the garment during the day and just leave it off at night because they swell so much...  I tried to stop wearing my arm/breast garment this weekend (just wore sports bra) and I will be 6 weeks Thursday...and I had to put it back on today over the sports bra (mine is too big now too with the swelling going down in the boobs).  My arms were a bit sore...so I think I will just go without it at night for now.

I dress for work also and all my dress pants and suits have fit just fine with my garment on, even with swelling.  They actually are a lot smoother...imagine wearing  a girdle from neck to knees...it smooths everything out!  Ha ha!

The only issue I have heard people talk about (I luckily don't have this issue) is the 'girly' area...since there's a hole in it from front to back, sometimes you are squishing out that area, and some people say you can see it through your clothes!

I also wear heels and suits - I am 11 days postop Ext TT and BL/BA and returned to work today. I opted for an elastic waisted skirt, stretchy cami and one of my larger suit jackets so I could hide the drains. No pantyhose but I am wearing heels. If you can take the 6 weeks, I say go for it! Good luck . . .

Not sure about the arms. But the for the tummy you can get much thinner compression garmets and will probably want to wear them well past your 6 weeks (so I've been told). I am 2 weeks out and feel I probably will wear them for a while. You can buy the "halter style" thing at walmart, target, and kohls and they work very well. Walmart is half the price of Kohls for the same brand and everything....identical. I got a black and white print, and then a solid black and solid white one. Alternate them and they were even stylish.

Karen ~

Can you post a picture of the garment you are referring to? We don't have any of those stores on the coast so I'll have to order them on-line.

Thanks!~!
