Apparently Charmin' didn't have the fan club she thought she had. She's a very angry person.

My surgeon required a month.  I did it.  He said smoking raises chance of serious wound complications from 2 to 3% to 40%.  That got my attention.  Good luck, Loris

As a former smoker I can tell you that you can quit. I bet you thought you could never stop overeating too. I know its hard but losing enough weight to need surgery was hard also. I bet you are stronger than you think. Most docs want 30 days before and if you can do that you can stop forever. There are worse things you could be doing but it will help you heal faster to quit.

Hi,
I as well am a smoker and am going to be having a panniculectomy in 6 weeks.  I just started using the patch this weekend, and have not stopped completely but only having about 5 a day which is good for me.  My surgeon is the same one that did my bypass and he didn't require me to quit for that but is for the plastics. He is going to test my urine 2 days before surgery so no cheating either.  I have never ever quit in 28 years so it is scary but I want and have to do this.  It is hard!
Good luck to you and if you ever wanna chat more let me know.

Hi Veronica,
I don't know you, but I wanted to comment on your reply.  My doctor made me quit for my original wls.  He also did a urine test to verify.  I'm concerned that you're using the patch, because it still gives you nicotine in your system, which will make your pee test come up "hot".  Were you planning to be off of the patches 30 days before your surgery?  It's totally none of my beeswax, but I was just worried about you not getting your surgery.

Thank you all for your reply, honesty and well wishes. I am meeting the surgeon on Friday for the consult and I am desparately hoping that they'll do the procedure as I am not at goal but in order to get there I need to be able to exer**** and with this gross hanging stomach and massive hernia it's extremely difficult and painful.

Thank you all
